Some weapons and armor can be enhanced with Scroll: Enchant Weapon and Scroll: Enchant Armor. scrolls. Each grade of weapon and armor has its own enchant scrolls. If an item's grade isn't specified, it can't be enhanced.
Almost all weapons and armor can be enchanted to ++3 without risk; beyond that, the success of each enchant is a matter of a certain percentage chance. One-piece armor can be enchanted to ++4 without risk.
A weapon enchanted to ++4 gets a silvery shine; further enchanting makes it glow blue, and at the highest levels red.
If the enchant fails, the item is destroyed and breaks down into crystals. The number of crystals depends on the item's value.
Blessed Scrolls of Enchant Weapon/Armor scrolls work like regular Scroll: Enchant Weapon and Scroll: Enchant Armor scrolls, but the item doesn't vanish if the enchant fails. However, if the enchant fails, the item's level goes back to ++0.
