A guide to manor setup for the castle lord
Contents |
General description
Through the Chamberlain, the manor lord sets up the manor system: reserving a certain amount of adena in it, setting daily quotas and seed/fruit selling/buying prices, and the purchase type.
After the manor system updates, seeds become available for farmers to buy. Farmers buy seeds, sow them in mobs, and after killing the mobs harvest the grown fruit.
Fruit is handed back in, and for the value of the fruit handed in, farmers get resources (the resource type depends on the seed type and the purchase type chosen by the lord). After processing, the seeds go to the clan warehouse and can be used by the lord to craft items at a special castle crafter.
The manor system cycle has three stages:
- 20:06-06:00 The manor has been updated and all quotas set. Farmers can buy seeds and sell fruit until the day's quotas run out. The lord can set up the manor system for the next day. The next day's manor can be changed; the current setup is visible to everyone.
- 06:00-20:00 The next day's manor is set. The amount needed to cover the quotas set by the manor lord for the next day is taken from the clan treasury. If there isn't enough money in the clan treasury, the manor stops working the next day — all quotas and prices are set to 0. Farmers can buy seeds and sell fruit until the day's quotas run out.
- 20:00-20:06 The manor is preparing for the next day (maintenance). All fruit bought during the day goes through "ripening". Of the fruit bought during the day, 90% turns into ripe fruit, and the other 10% vanishes without a trace. Ripe fruit goes into the clan warehouse (clan warehouse). Money reserved for the past day but not used returns to the castle treasury (castle vault). The next day's settings become the current day's settings, and the past day's settings are gone.
You can't buy seeds or hand in fruit at this time, but you can set up buying/selling (and wait for 20:06).
Chamberlain
The Chamberlain menu has three options for setting up the manor:
View Seed Status — view status
Here you can view the manor system status in any town for the current or next day. The window has three tabs — seed settings (seeds), fruit settings (crops) and basic information.
You can keep this window open while setting things up, which helps a lot. Still, I'd recommend writing down the key seed information separately.
Manage Seeds — set up seed sales
The setup window shows all the seeds the castle produces. For each seed there are two columns — the current setting and the next day's setting. You can sort the list by clicking the table header — by name, level, etc. The Set as today button copies all seed settings from the current day to the next day.
Usually there's no point in changing the setup much, so this option saves the lord a lot of time. Clicking a row makes it current, and individual settings apply to it (the Edit Seed button). The Edit seeds button opens the edit window for the current seed type (for the next day). In this window you can choose the selling price and the number of seeds for sale. The maximum number of seeds for sale is shown right there; the selling price can be set freely within 60%-1000% of the seed's base price. You can see a seed's base price in the View Seed Status window, on the Basic Info tab, in that seed's row in the Seed price. column.
Enter the price, enter the quantity, press OK. If everything is fine, the window closes, and the changed setting appears in the list. The total amount of money needed to produce the seeds is updated at the same time. After you've set up all the seeds, press the confirm button in the lower-right corner, and the setup takes effect. You can change the settings at any time from 20:06 to 6:00. The last confirmed setup is the one that applies.
Manage Crops - set up fruit purchases
This window is very similar to the previous one, but it handles the fruit being bought. The Edit crop button opens the fruit setup window. In this window you set the number of fruit to buy, the purchase price per fruit, and the purchase type (I or II).
For fruit of this type handed in, farmers will get the resource from the Type I or Type II column respectively (you can see them in the tooltip when choosing the fruit type, or on the Basic Info tab in the View Crop Status window).
The total amount of money needed to sustain the manor setup is shown in the lower-left corner. After setting up all the seeds, you need to confirm the day's setup.
Note that the money needed for the setup must already be in the castle treasury (Castle Vault) at the time of setup. So it's worth putting it there in advance. Usually, to sustain the manor, it's enough to keep twice as much money in the treasury as the day's manor setup requires. Three times is better, of course: one part is reserved for the current day, one is used for the next day, and the third serves as a reserve.
Castle Crafter
Items are made at the catsle crafter in the castle basement, under the throne room. Next to the crafter stands NPC, who gives access to clan warehouse — quite convenient. To craft, take mature/ripe fruit from CWH and use the craft option at the NPC crafter.
A shop window opens where you can make the items you need. Choose the item type that requires the corresponding fruit, enter the quantity you need in the input line, click OK and confirm. That's it — the craft is done. You can enter a quantity only for stackable items. Enchant scrolls have to be made one at a time.
In general, there are two kinds of seeds — enchant or non-enchant. "Enchant" seeds can only be used to make enchant scrolls of grades D-A.
From non-enchant seeds you can make Quick Healing Potion, Greater Haste Potion, Greater Swift Attack Poition, Blessed Resurrection Scroll, Blessed Scroll of Escape, Crystal B Grade, Crystal A Grade, Crystal S Grade, Dual Craft Stamp
How much does crafting cost? How to calculate it?
There are several ways to calculate the cost of crafting. But usually crafting is counted as fruit price + crafting price, because seeds are usually quite cheap.
For example, let's calculate the cost of Dual Craft Stamp from Blue Coda when buying Blue Coda at base prices (100a apiece).
Producing 1 Dual Craft stamp takes 1000 adena and 100 Mature Blue Coda. To get 100 Mature Blue coda, we need to buy 112 Blue Coda. In total, the cost comes to 112*100+1000=12.2k
If you buy Blue Coda at 200a, the cost of dual Craft Stamp will be 23.4k
For simplicity, we can assume that the profit from seeds covers the 10% of seeds lost to ripening. Then the approximate cost of our Dual Craft Stamp will be 11k at base purchase prices.
The most interesting thing is that with the same seed price rates relative to base, the cost of producing items is the same for all seeds (give or take a few coppers due to the developers' rounding).
In total, at base prices we get this cost table:
| Item | Craft | Crops |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Healing Potion | 1000 | 10 000 |
| Greater Haste Potion | 300 | 3 000 |
| Greater Swift Attack Potion | 600 | 6 000 |
| Blessed Resurrection Scroll | 40 000 | 400 000 |
| Blessed Scroll of Escape | 15 000 | 150 000 |
| Crystal B Grade | 900 | 9 000 |
| Crystal A Grade | 1500 | 15 000 |
| Crystal S Grade | 2500 | 25 000 |
| Dual Craft Stamp | 1000 | 10 000 |
| Secret Book of Giants | 50 000 | 500 000 |
| EAD | 600 | 6 000 |
| EAC | 1500 | 15 000 |
| EAB | 8 000 | 80 000 |
| EAA | 24 000 | 240 000 |
| EWD | 5 000 | 50 000 |
| EWC | 11 000 | 110 000 |
| EWB | 50 000 | 500 000 |
| EWA | 180 000 | 1 800 000 |
If the castle warehouse has enough money, the next day's setup is automatically copied from the current day's setup. Exactly how much money is needed, I don't know. But a triple reserve of money was usually enough for me.
Contrary to the statement of NCSoft, the manor can work during an assault. However, both the manor's results and the reserved funds pass to the new castle owner if the castle is lost. To avoid this, cancel the manor in advance, so that it's no longer running on assault day.
A castle lord isn't served by his own NPC Someone else (clanmates can do it) must buy seeds for him, and he can hand in fruit in another town (including his own town).
