Festival of Darkness

Participant registration and entry rules

The Festival of Darkness is a location resembling ordinary dungeons; you can go there by talking to the Priest. You can only be there during the Competition Period. Parties of 5 people registered for one side are admitted to the festival itself; pets are not allowed. There are also different rooms limited by level — you can learn about this by talking to npc. The higher your level, the higher the room level, and the more points you can bring your side.

When your party registers (only the party leader registers, the others must be nearby), you get into a room with monsters. You kill them, they revive a bit stronger, and so on. Blood drops from the monsters to the party leader — it doesn't matter which party member lands the killing blow, even summons and pets. The only catch: if a summon lands the killing blow (summoned cubics count too), you get 2 times less blood. After moving to the room you have 20 minutes, of which 2 minutes are for buffs. The point is to collect the most blood in the rooms of your level. Then points are credited to your side. If competitors beat your result, the points go to them.

If you die, pressing the "To village" button revives you in the same room. Note that regen is increased in the middle of the room. Also, if you're buffed with mass skills by a character outside the festival zone, the amount of blood will be cut in half. And don't forget to turn in the blood, or remind the party leader to turn it in, npc after leaving the room.

On top of everything else, entering the festival costs seal stones of one of the three types — you choose which. Below I'll give data on the existing rooms and their levels, the number of seals required, and the points awarded for the top result.

Any player who has joined one of the sides can take part in the Festival of Darkness. When talking to the priest of your side (Priest of Dusk/Dawn), choose "Participating in the Festival of Darkness", and then "I wish to go to the Oracle of Dawn/Dusk". After that you'll be moved to the Oracle of your side.

The Festivals of Darkness are held only during the Competition Period, every 20 minutes, and are divided into 5 classes, like items — by difficulty level. The point of the Festival of Darkness is to score the highest in 18 minutes while fighting constantly spawning and strengthening monsters.

Inside the Oracles there's a so-called peace zone — players can't attack each other. You also can't attack PKs. Besides that, you can't set up shops inside the Oracles, but you can trade items.

Only a party of 5-9 people can take part in the Festival of Darkness. The party must consist only of players of one side. The levels of all party members must be within the level range specified for each Festival of Darkness class.

If a player's character has skills of a higher tier than a player of their level should have (delevelled players), they can't take part in the competition. Also, the player must have no more than 24 active quests and at least 20% free inventory space.

To take part in the Festival of Darkness, all participants must pay a certain amount of stones depending on the Festival class. However, only the party leader has to pay this amount. That is, before the Festival starts, players must chip in Seal Stones and give the whole amount to the leader. If the leader doesn't have enough stones, the party won't be admitted to the Festival. You can take part in the Festivals an unlimited number of times, as long as you have enough stones to pay the entry fee.

Below is a list of the Festival classes, the participation cost, and the number of points awarded to the side of the winning party. You can pay with blue, green or red stones.

How it's held and rules of conduct

To get inside the combat zone, each party member must go to the Festival Guide (Guide of Festival) and choose the corresponding Festival class. This must be done 2 minutes before the Festival starts, when it's announced by a shout (Shout Channel). When it starts, your party will be moved inside the combat zone. All buffs and debuffs will be removed from the party's characters, and the party will have 2 minutes for buffs before monsters start to appear.

At first, monsters will appear rarely and be weak, but as time goes on they'll appear faster and faster and get stronger — the so-called waves. Each monster drops Blood Offering (Blood of Sacrificed) when killed. The more of this blood the party collects in the allotted 18 minutes, the better the chances of winning the chosen Festival class.

Blood drops only to the party leader, but who lands the last hit doesn't affect its drop chance. The stronger the monsters, the higher the chance your party gets Blood Offering. At the Festival of Darkness you can't use pets, but you can use summons and cubics. In addition, you can't receive buffs during the Festival from players not taking part in the Festival of Darkness — Overlord buffs. For breaking either of these two rules, the party's Blood Offering score will be cut in half.

A player may die while fighting the monsters. The XP lost on death is cut to 1/4 of the normal amount. Dead players can't be resurrected; instead, when they press the Return button on death, players appear in the center of the Festival combat zone. Items don't drop from players in the combat zone at all (the chance is 0). However, PK players with a PK count over 5 will lose items with the normal chance. In the center of the room, the regeneration speed of MP and HP. is increased

If the party is losing the Festival (i.e. players die very often), it can give up by talking to the shaman in the center of the Festival combat zone. Players who want to leave the Festival will be moved inside the Oracle.

If the party members feel the monsters are too weak, they can ask the shaman to increase the monsters' difficulty. After that, 4 Offering of Festival monsters appear in the corners of the combat zone, and only after they're killed does the monster difficulty increase. However, remember that you can't lower the monsters' strength. At the same time, the stronger the monsters, the more and the more often Blood Offering drops from them.

During the Festival of Darkness, players are notified by a shout about the time left until the end of the Festival. The first shout is 10 minutes before the end, the second is 5 minutes before the end, and the third is 2 minutes before the end of the Festival.

Registering the result, winners and prizes

After the Festival ends, the players are moved back to the Oracle. The party leader must register the score with the Festival Guide within 40 minutes; otherwise the score won't be counted. If the party leader didn't register the result, he can't take part in subsequent Festivals until the allotted 40 minutes are up (you can't turn in the scores of several Festivals at once).

The Festival winners are determined for each Festival class by the highest amount of Blood Offering collected. After the competition week ends, the points earned for winning a class are awarded to the side the winning party played for. A party that won one of the Festival classes and belongs to the winning side can get a reward from the Festival Guide.

The reward is calculated from the sum of all the stones paid as Festival entry fees (a sweepstake). The resulting amount is converted into ancient adena and distributed among the parties belonging to the winning side. If a party won at the Festival but belongs to the losing side, it can't claim a prize. If the winning party doesn't collect its prize before the next competition cycle starts, the prize "burns".
