Tattoos

Each race has a certain set of stats — STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIT, MEN - base stats that affect the character's parameters.

Unlike character stats, base stats stay the same throughout the game. They can be changed only by set bonuses and tattoos. Changing base stats with tattoos is what we'll talk about.

Tattoos are applied by Tattoo Maker NPC, who can be found in any magic/general shop (marked as Magic or Grocery on the map) in any town.

Tattoos are made from dyes (Dye). To get a tattoo, bring Tattoo Maker 10 identical dyes and pay a little money for the work — 10% of the dyes' cost + the town tax. And when getting tattooed, choose where to put it — a heart on the butt or a skull on the shoulder.

Tattoo dyes come in 2 kinds — Regular (Dye of "name") and Greater (Greater Dye of "name"). Regular dyes can be bought from the merchants in the same shop where Tattoo Maker is. Greater dyes aren't sold in regular shops — they can be dropped from monsters or bought from Trader of Mammon in the Necropolises.

Characters below level 20 and without the first class can't get tattoos. Characters from level 20 to 40 with the first class can get 2 tattoos only from Regular dyes. After level 40 and the 2 class, a character can get 3 tattoos only from Greater dyes.

Tattoos you don't like can be removed at Tattoo Maker. You get back half of the dyes used to make the tattoo. Tattoo removal is also a paid service. So think in advance and consult experienced friends about which tattoo is best for your character.

When you reach level 40 and get the second class, any tattoos on your character become inactive. You will have to remove them and apply new ones that match your character's status.

A small tip. There are 2 kinds of tattoo sets — for PvM and for PvP. For some classes the difference between the sets isn't that noticeable, which is why there are eternal arguments on "What's better for class X". In reality, the better set is the one that best fits your play style. If you love PvP, feel free to get the set for PvP; if you prefer to take down monsters in packs, solo or in a party, get the set for PvM.

Stats

Tattoo rules

Now it's time to talk about the rules for applying tattoos. Besides the level and class restrictions already described, there are a few more basic rules.

If you've looked at the list of existing dyes, you'll have noticed that any tattoo gives a "-" besides the "+". And some dyes give you more "-" than plus — those are the worst dyes. The best dyes are those where "+" equals "-" (+1/-1,+2/-2,+3/-3,+4/-4), but they cost more and are much harder to get.

You can't raise a base stat by more than +5 with tattoos. I.e. 2 applied tattoos +3 and +4 will still give a bonus of +5, not +7. You can raise a stat further with set bonuses. For example, the tattoo +4 STR/-4 CON and Plated Leather Set (+4 STR) will give +8 STR/-4 CON. It's recommended to get tattoos that balance the set's losses at the expense of stats the class doesn't need.

You can lower a base stat with tattoos without limit, but it will never drop to 0. The maximum "-" is -18, but if the base stat was 16, it becomes 1
