PvP
General information about PvP
Except for clan wars and siege situations, to fight another player in common territory you must force-attack them. To force-attack, hold the Ctrl key and double-click the opponent. You can also use a skill while holding Ctrl There's one exception to the force-attack rule — flagged or chaotic players. There's no need to hold Ctrl when attacking such a player. You can simply click on them to start the fight. Some territories, such as villages, are peaceful territories. PvP fights can't take place in such areas.
One-on-one character combat is based on a color-coding system. The name of any character who attacks another player turns purple (aggressive), and this also applies to anyone who attacks an aggressive player. Players get no penalties for attacking and killing an aggressive character. However, when you attack and kill neutral characters (whose names are white), karma points and the PK count grow, and the player becomes a chaotic character.
A Chaotic character's name turns red, and the guards of every village will attack them as soon as they come into a guard's view. A chaotic character can't use shops, has a high item drop chance and gets a penalty after death. A chaotic character with a PK count of five or less won't lose items on death. The table shows the color-coding system in action:
| Player A | Combat | Player B | Result (Player A) | Karma gained |
| White | Strike | White | Purple > White | No |
| White | Assassination | White | Red | Yes |
| White | Strike | Purple | Purple > White | No |
| White | Hit or Kill | Red | White | No |
| Purple | Assassination | White | Red | Yes |
| Purple | Assassination | Purple | Purple > White | No |
| Red | Assassination | White | Red | Yes |
| Red | Assassination | Purple | Red | No |
To lower karma to zero, a player must kill monsters. There's also Repent Your Sins, which lowers the count of players killed (PK). Talk to the character Black Judge to start the quest.
Combat Points in PvP
Combat Points (CP) add an extra layer of protection when attacked by another player. CP acts as a protective bar that must be depleted before damage affects the player's hit points. The amount of CP can be seen on the character status page (Alt+T), and also in the character status window (in the upper left corner of the game window).
If a player takes damage from another player (including pets and servitors), CP is spent first and the hit points (HP) stay unchanged. If there aren't enough combat points (CP) to absorb the damage, hit points (HP) start being spent.
Like HP, CP it gradually recovers too. CP varies entirely depending on the player's class and level.
