Wintermelon Woes

Puss the Cat made a terrible mistake! While ordering Christmas items for Santa Claus, Puss accidentally ordered a huge stock of winter watermelons instead of sleigh bells. Without the bells, Santa's sleigh won't be able to jingle while handing out gifts in the world of Aden, and Santa will miss Christmas this year. He and all the familiar festive NPC took a forced vacation and went off to tropical countries with a warm climate, leaving one Puss the Cat to deal with the winter watermelon problem.

Puss the Cat did everything he could to fix this disaster. He needs adventurers to help smash every last watermelon. As a reward for the hard work, Puss put gifts inside each watermelon. So, thanks to Puss's "help", Aden won't suffer from a lack of the usual holiday spirit this year.

Of course, a holiday wouldn't be a holiday without cheerful festive music, so Puss the Cat arranged it so that some watermelons can only be smashed with Chrono weapons. Let's help Puss the Cat and get lots of gifts for it!

How can I take part in the winter watermelon event?

Talk to Puss the Cat to learn more about the Wintermelon Woes. event. He'll also sell you Nectar for the seeds and Chrono weapons.

Collect the Nectar that drops from monsters all over the world. You'll need to use the Nectar to grow watermelons, or exchange it for seeds, or for Chrono weapons from Puss the Cat. Nectar; it can be traded and sold.

Plant the seeds in flat ground. There are different kinds of seeds:

1. Wintermelon Seed: bought from Puss the Cat for 1 Nectar. Used to grow ordinary watermelons. Tradable.
2. Honey Wintermelon Seed: bought from Puss the Cat for 50 Nectar. Used to grow honey watermelons (Honey Wintermelons). Tradable.
3. Cloned Wintermelon and Cloned Honey Wintermelon Seeds: drop from monsters. Used to grow Wintermelons or Honey Wintermelons, respectively. Not tradable.

Use 5 Nectar to grow Young Wintermelon or Young Honey Wintermelon to maturity. Each type of Young Wintermelon must reach maturity within 3 minutes, or it will wither and return to the earth. Once ripe, Wintermelon or Honey Wintermelon turns into 3 different types of Wintermelon or Honey Wintermelon (respectively): Spoiled, Rain, or Large Rain.

Smash the ripe watermelon within 1,5 minute. You can hit a watermelon without a special weapon. You'll need Chrono weapon and your friends' help to smash Honey Wintermelon. Chrono weapons can be bought from Puss the Cat for 10 Nectar. Chrono weapons look and sound like musical instruments. They're tradable.

What types of watermelons are there, and what are their rewards?

• Wintermelons
• Young Wintermelons grow from Wintermelon Seeds. If you use 5 Nectar on Young Wintermelon, it will ripen into one of three types of ordinary watermelons:

• Spoiled Wintermelon.
• Rain Wintermelon.
• Large Rain Wintermelon.

These watermelons only give Nectar.

• Honey Wintermelons

Young Honey Wintermelons grow from Honey Wintermelon Seeds. If you use 5 Nectar on Young Honey Wintermelon, it will ripen into one of three types of Honey Wintermelons.

• Spoiled Honey Wintermelon.

• Rain Honey Wintermelon.

• Large Rain Honey Wintermelon.

Honey Wintermelons can only be smashed with Chrono weapons. Honey Wintermelons are hard, and to smash Honey Wintermelon successfully within 1,5 minutes it's advisable to get your friends' help.

Honey Wintermelons give better rewards than their ordinary siblings. Here's the list of rewards you can get from Honey Wintermelons:

• Crystals: A-Grade / S-Grade. Transferable.
• Gemstones A / S. Transferable.
• Healing Potions: Greater Healing Potion, Greater Quick Healing Potion. Transferable.
• Greater Elixirs of CP: all grades. Restore CP. Transferable.
• Greater Elixirs of Life: all grades. Restore HP. Transferable.
• Greater Elixirs of Mental Strength: all grades. Restore MP. Transferable.
• Giant's Codex basic, Oblivion, Discipline or Mastery. Tradable.
• Scroll: Enchant Weapon A / S. Transferable.
• Blessed Scroll: Weapon Enchant A / S. Transferable.
• Blessed Scroll: Armor Enchant A / S. Tradable.
• High-grade life stone of level 67, 70, 76 or 80. Tradable.
• Top-grade life stone of level 67, 70, 76, 80, 82 or 84. Tradable.
• Red / Green / Blue Soul Crystal - Stage 14 / 15 / 16. Transferable.

Duration of the Wintermelon Woes event

The Wintermelon Woes event runs from December 14 to 28, 2010. Nectar and Cloned Seeds will drop from monsters from December 14 to 21, 2010. Puss the Cat will stay in towns until December 28, 2010.

Holiday gifts in 2010

The project administration will bring you entertainment and send useful holiday gifts to celebrate the winter holidays of 2010, Wintermelons, 6 years of Lineage 2, and the New Year 2011! On December 14, 2010, all characters will receive the following items. You'll find them in your private warehouse.

1. 5 Christmas Cake Boxes: This gift box isn't tradable. Any unopened Christmas Cake Boxes will be deleted after 3 months. Each holiday box contains (when opened):
2. Christmas Cake: Fully restores Vitality when used. Cooldown 60 minutes. Can't be dropped, destroyed or sold.
3. White Christmas Wish Candle: Maintains Vitality for 10 minutes when used. Cooldown 30 minutes. Can't be dropped, destroyed or sold. Doesn't stack with the Mystic Immunity. effect
4. 1 Santa Hat Set: This gift box isn't tradable. The 2 Christmas items inside this box will disappear 14 days after you open Santa Hat gift box. Any unopened Santa Hat Set boxes will be deleted after 3 months. 2 Christmas items await you inside:
5. Santa's Hat - 14-day limited period: makes your character look like they're wearing a Santa Claus hat. Uses 2 accessory slots. Not tradable. Disappears after 14 days.
6. 1 Rudolph's Nose: this item makes your character look like they have a bright red nose, like the reindeer Rudolph the Red-Nosed. Uses 2 accessory slots. Not tradable. Disappears after 14 days.
