Arbalester (Freya) guide — Arbalester
Arbalester class guide for Lineage 2 Freya: how to get the class, which skills to take, what to wear and where to level.

A little about the class
- Mostly, people pick the Arbalester at first because of the character model. And yes, the model really is beautiful
and can only be outdone by its dark rivals... but that depends on how you look at it ;)
- Arbalester - this is Range-support DD.
Good magic defense makes this class a fierce opponent of mages, and thanks to the irreplaceable skill Real Target, the Arbalester is a favorite in archer groups. Arbalesters use a unique weapon matching the class name — crossbows. A crossbow is the same as a bow, only after many hours of processing with the skill Change Weapon. ^^
- Crossbows have less P.atk but more Atk.speed; less Critical but higher Accuracy. A plus for us: crossbows aren't divided into "slow" and "very slow". Pick the one that hits harder :)
- Normal crossbow shots don't consume MP, so all of the Arbalester's mana is fully available for skills.
Class pros
- Unique in everything: skills, weapons, team role
- The highest M.def. among all range-DD classes
- All MP goes entirely to skills
- Little competition at the Olympiad.
Class cons
- P.atk is almost half that of archers (but it doesn't affect DPS!)
- Racial restrictions on subclasses
- The race's low CON stat.
- Not all archers know about the Arbalester's advantages yet, so you may be passed over in parties for a dagger or a warlock. Communication skills will help you.
- Tip: don't choose the class you'll play because you liked a skill description or a friend's story about "how he single-handedly beat ten guys". More than half of the players who start as an Arbalester are disappointed in it and create archers. But those who stick with it to the end are very happy with the class. The Arbalester is a class for connoisseurs :)

Also, at these levels we get 3 "Auras"
- the main attack skill, a must-learn. P. Atk. doesn't affect the hit, which is also nice :) And if you stuff the crossbow with earth stones and enchant Twin Shot to Earth... mmm... the skill's damage increases about 2 times.

our sweetie! Anyone I fight gets this first, and then the tasty "treats" ^^
- our root; I used it until about level 70 when killing strong mobs or small fry from enemy clans; at high levels it's of 0 use...
- Takes HP - adds souls.
- Lvl.1 (40) - 193 HP, +1 soul
- Lvl.2 (49) - 237 HP, +2 souls
- Lvl.3 (58) - 279 HP, +3 souls
- Lvl.4 (66) - 311 HP, +4 souls
- Lvl.5 (72) - 328 HP, +5 souls
- I use it often: 1. Before PvP, build up souls 2. Drop HP to 10% for Deadly Roulette 3. Then I feel like switching into a transformation ;)
- honestly... I haven't used it 1 times... not even by accident)
- I don't use it, since again there's practically no point at high levels.
- Each skill level adds about +7 critical rate; the boost to critical power is too hard to measure.
- In total the skill is learned four times:
- Lvl.1 (43):
- +10% Crit.rate
- +111 P.atk on critical hit
- Lvl.2 (52):
- +15% Crit.rate
- +177 P.atk on critical hit
- Lvl.3 (60):
- +20% Crit.rate
- +253 P.atk on critical hit
- Lvl.4 (66):
- +25% Crit.rate
- +317 P.atk on critical hit
- this is how our "treats" are made ^^
- I always have it on cooldown) who knows... when you'll need to spin the roulette :)
- in my opinion you don't need to learn it at all: weak damage, short range — a useless skill
- a good skill, learn it without hesitation :)
- did I say something good about the Koreans?! forget it! this skill ruins their reputation.
- if you forgot your bolts but have some B crystals lying in your pocket, this skill will save you a trip back to town ;)
- I only pull this skill out for sieges, where there are lots of people — it'll land on at least one)
- what were those Korean developers thinking! So I'm supposed to cast a skill that, if it lands at all (hooray, a holiday!), lasts about 5 seconds on mobs and at most 2 on characters... x_x
- Lvl.1 (58):
- +60% Arrow resistance
- +100% M.def
- for 10 seconds your opponents become lousy archers and noob mages ^___^
- Lvl.1 (58):
- +199 p.atk
- +20% Crit.rate
- +6 Accuracy
- +200 Range
- I use only PvE in the catacombs... since in PvP this skill takes away our main weapon — running :D
- same as B grade)
- we're making seeds, beware! ^^
- If it lands, it drains the enemy's CP/HP for 10 seconds, then applies Paralyze for 10 seconds.
- A few important facts:
- Requires 1 Dark Seed to use
- The skill's range is 40, i.e. point-blank.
- "Devouring HP" and the paralysis are two separate effects that don't depend on each other. That is, even if you successfully "plant" the seed and the enemy's HP is being drained, the paralysis may not work.
- useless in my opinion... it never landed once! :(
- If it lands, it keeps knocking off your enemy's target.
- hmm, I can't say anything about it, but I don't use it and I'm not complaining :)
- Deadly Roulette (Active, physical, lethal) Can only be used if HP is below 10%. A lethal strike is possible. Requires a crossbow. Consumes Special Bolt. Effect:
- An active physical skill with a chance of a Lethal effect.
- If the skill lands, it leaves the enemy with 1 CP / 1 HP.
- If it doesn't, it deals no damage at all.
- sure, >10% HP is terribly dangerous, but a 50% lethal chance *__* cute, right?
- Removes debuffs from yourself or any other Kamael.
- Chance 100%.
- feel like a bishop))))
- I don't use it...
- same as B grade
- learned it, no complaints))
- same here)))
- honestly, who knows whether it works or not :D but I learned it
- lies and provocation! a junk skill >_<
- I don't turn on this aura at all...
- mmmm.... to dust... and the mages to dust too... *___*
- enchant p.s. for duration! each enchant is +2 more seconds of misery for mages ^^
- The last class skill, learned from NPC.
- mmmm... I don't use it in PvP, only to admire it :D
- hooray! now we make soul potions without leaving town! :p
- "we've got everything we need to get the hell out of here!" (c) me :D
- so I threw down the crossbow and went to punch faces with my fists >_<
- a nice little thing ^^
- mmmm...
Equipment
C-grade
- Armor:
Plated Leather - One of the best light sets, since it gives a huge boost to P.atk at the cost of +4 STR, lowering only -1 CON. For the C-grade it's definitely the best choice. - Jewelry: set
Common Item - Necklace of Binding.
- Weapon:
Sharpshooter (conversion of
Eminence Bow) is the optimal option. There's no need for an SA here, so just buy a common bow in Giran and convert it into our little treat. ;)
B-grade
- Armor:
Leather Armor of Doom - Lung capacity increased, P. Atk. +2,7%, Recovery MP +2,5%, STR-1, CON-2, DEX+3, chance to inflict Poison -20%. - but I stayed in the PL set until 61, since I like its bonuses better. I advise staying in it until A grade (preferably enchanted to +5-6) if you have people who will rush ahead at the mobs while you hand out treats from behind them. ;)
- Jewelry:
Common Item - Black Ore Necklace (if money is tight, keep the C jewelry) - Weapon:
- Budget option:
Peacemaker (Conversion
Dark Elven Long Bow)
- Best Condition:
Hell Hound (Conversion
Bow of Peril)
- The importance of an SA is also doubtful; I leveled fine with a common Peril. :)
- Budget option:
A-grade
- Armor:
Majestic Leather Armor - P. Atk. +8% with a Bow/Crossbow, Max MP +240, weight limit without penalty +5759, Stun resistance +50%, DEX+1, CON-1. - The other options lose to the MJ light set.
- Jewelry: the
Common Item - Majestic Necklace set (if money is tight, keep the B jewelry) - Weapons:
- Budget option:
Doomchanter (Conversion
Carnage Bow)
- Best Condition:
Reaper (Conversion
Soul Bow)
- Elite option:
Screaming Vengeance (Conversion
Shyeed's Bow)
- From experience: to buy S-grade faster, I bought a common Soul Bow and made Reaper. Actually, I didn't complain. :)
- Budget option:
S-grade
- Armor:
Draconic Leather Armor - DEX+1, STR+1, CON-2, Atk. Spd./P. Atk. +4%, Max MP +289, weight limit without penalty +5759. - Jewelry: the
Tateossian Necklace set (here it's a must, by hook or by crook — craft it :) ) - Weapon:
Sarnga Focus (Conversion
Draconic Bow)
S80-grade

Moirai Leather Breastplate - DEX +2, CON -2; when equipped, P. Atk. +4.26%, Atk. Spd. +4%, Speed +3%, Hold resistance +50%, Fire/Water/Wind/Earth defense +3. Allows wearing a cloak.
-
- Jewelry: the
Dynasty Necklace set (preferably mixed with epic jewelry ^^) - Weapons:
Dynasty Crossbow Focus (Conversion
Dynasty Bow)
- there's also the Icarus crossbow as an option, but I don't consider it... in general, a respectable crossbow girl runs around with Infinity Shooter at this stage :D
S84-grade
- Armor:
-
Vesper Leather Breastplate - STR+1, CON-2, DEX+1, Attack/Atk. Spd./MP +5,57 recovery speed %, Max MP +347,4. -

- 70+...+80
- I won't list spots for these levels; everyone chooses for themselves. Personally, from level 70 I settled with a party in the MoS, and we leveled there all the way to 79 (lots of mobs, weak mobs, big rooms, a tasty quest, PvP ;)).
Tattoo
The debates about this will never end. :) Everyone puts on tattoos to their own taste. My choice: PvE +4 STR +4 DEX +4 WIT -8 CON -4 INT (or +5 STR +4 DEX +4 WIT -9 CON -4 INT)! I level in a party PvP +5 DEX -5 CON +4 WIT -5 INT! I only put on PvP tattoos for High-lvl.
PvP/Olympiad
PvP
While leveling the Arbalester, I was disappointed at low levels. I waited patiently and believed: "My time will come!" And it came! ^^ high-lvl With buffs, the Arbalester simply tears everything apart! I really regret that there's no PvP counter at sieges. An Arbalester with full buffs means death. Dangerous both 1 and in a party. Everyone has their own PvP tactics, but I stick to what I call the "Fly on a dung heap" tactic :D Remember: if we move, we live. If we stand still, we die ;) There'll always be a place for you in constant archer parties. Thanks to the Koreans for Real target. That's about it; experience comes with time and is different for everyone.
Olympiad
The Olympiad is very hard for a crossbow girl, and it's individual for everyone. I can say right away: we're not a farmer class, but many will be unhappy to meet us ;) Personally, I first went there as soon as I got Noblesse... Got thoroughly beaten by a cat summoner, was quietly stunned, and went off to level more :D. My advice: don't go to the Olympiad until you're fully equipped, enchanted and leveled (82-85)! ^^ Of the traps at the Olympiad, if I use any (oh, how rarely), it's only Binding — it can help against Destroyers, dwarves and tanks. The second is Slow, if it's well enchanted. But in 90% of cases there's no time for traps. Often, practically always, I use an enchanted Twin; it hits very nicely :) In general, catch mages at the Olympiad! :D Run around a corner and use all our UDs as needed. Sharpshooting, RT and crit-crit-crit :) Against melee classes it's useful to turn on the "twin". As for the final form — I don't use it, since Twin Shot pleases me much more.
The Olympiad is a place where you have to assess the situation and plan your actions in seconds. p.s. In my practice, shameful as it may be, I've beaten every class except 3... No matter what I tried, I never once managed to beat a SK :( And for the other two classes I'm doubly ashamed :D you won't believe it, but I never once managed to beat a crafter and a spoiler... :p
Place in the party
- The Arbalester is not an archer, as some mistakenly think. And it's precisely the relatively low damage and good attack speed (the opposite of archers) that give us more freedom in choosing party members.
At lower levels the Arbalester can (and sometimes should) be leveled with melee classes. Places practically unavailable for archers to level in, such as the catacombs and the rift, are easily handled by a Arba+melee. combo
As for duos, the Arbalester gets good experience in combination with the classes: Berserker, Bladedancer, Gladiator, Tyrant. For a trio, you can add Abyss Walker, Arbalester, Soul Breaker, Treasure Hunter to the classes above, and recently Warsmith. has also proven useful in a party.
Although a composition of two Arba + PP or Arba + Hawkeye + PP is also quite viable.
Once you get Real Target lvl.4, when the range of this skill becomes 900, the Arbalester becomes more comfortable in a full archer party. -(c)Anike
Who wouldn't take someone like us into a party? ^^
Odds and ends
- Pet: if an Arbalester takes a pet at all, the best option is the buffalo. We are Range-DD, i.e. we don't vampirize, and the buffalo will make up for that. It also has a decent set of buffs for solo leveling.
- LS: there are many options; a few from me.
- For weight — it'll help you carry more shots, and if needed you can bring 2 sets at once.
- Clarity or refresh are also options worth considering.
- My opinion: the best option is refresh + a bit of accuracy. ;)
Again, from personal experience, it's very convenient for a crossbow girl to be a clan leader.
