Monastery of Silence - The Monastery of Silence was founded by the Order of Saint Solina, a branch of the Temple of Einhasad. Travelers say a very strict and quiet atmosphere reigns there. The monks rarely talk to outsiders. Since the monastery is in the wilderness, it's a great place for quiet meditation.
Description
The monastery belongs to the territory of Rune and lies between the Valley of Saints and Ketra, so it has two entrances/exits: from the VoS side and from the Ketra side.
You can teleport to the monastery from both Rune (including from clan halls) and Goddard. The teleports (regular, Noblesse, clan hall) lead to the entrance on the VoS side.
MoS counts as a dungeon for players 80+ (see the map) and has the matching features: x-boosted mobs, no herbs, an anti-train system (i.e. you can lead mobs no further than the corridor next to the room)
However, given that the mobs in the location are level 78, you can start leveling there from 74+.
MoS is conventionally divided into 3 floors:
- The first floor includes several small rooms with different sets of monsters and the legendary Library (two big rooms). The way up to the next floor is in the first library room on the left (if coming from the teleport). All rooms on the first floor are filled with mobs.
- The second floor - three paired large halls with small transitional rooms before each pair. The round rooms on the second floor are empty. Also on the second floor is a secret room with the quest NPC Gremory. (the third (!!) pair of halls, a dead-end room at the far end of the hall on the right. Simply put – you go through the paired halls in this order: far, near, near). There's the same kind of room in the first pair of halls, but it's empty. The doors to the secret rooms are opened with Unlock.
- The third floor – another paired large hall, three rooms with mobs (one a dead end) and the hall with the Grail and the RB. The door to the Grail room opens with Key of Splendor room. Unlock doesn't work. You don't need the quest to drop the key or open the door. (To get to the Grail door, go through the paired halls like this: far hall – near – far – far) Be careful: the door slams shut, and after that it can't be opened for quite a long time - I waited about half an hour; I was too lazy to wait longer.
A characteristic feature of this location is that about half the mobs (monks named Monk and Brother) won't attack you if you come to the Monastery unarmed. Conversely, they'll be aggressive (with a fairly large aggro radius) if you walk through the rooms armed. Many are misled by the phrase the monks shout, "you may not carry a weapon without permission" - no quest gives such "permission")
Monsters
All MoS mobs are social. Most mobs are x4, but on the upper floors there are x5 and x6 mobs. The angel mobs are aggressive.
Group mobs:
- on the first floor, Monastic Crusader with 3 minions Monastic Pilgrim, melee x4
- on the second floor, Beholder of Light with two minions Divine Advocate and Pilgrim of Light
All melee mobs have the Very strong P.Atk property, all mage mobs Very strong M.Atk. All monastery mobs use holy attacks; the mages also use ranged fire attacks; all of them are weak to dark attacks and resist holy. Periodically the mobs throw Surrender to Holy. As well as slow and a non-removable Holy Weapon buff (~2 minutes).
Pay special attention to the following two kamikaze mobs: both are aggressive, x1, have greater resists to hold and sleep, and both use a very nasty AoE attack
- Monastery Guardian – a strong AoE explosion that can crit for 3-5k on a TT+3. It usually explodes when the attack starts. Lives on the first floor. How to deal with it – kill the little creature as fast as possible and as far as possible from the main party members, preventing it from exploding if you can
- Guardian of the Grail - an AoE explosion of three types: a magic AoE attack (but weaker than the monk's), or a mana drain, or a mass root. They live in the large halls of floors 2 and 3. They randomly teleport around the room and explode if they land near a character (including a dead one). How to deal with them – the explosion happens after a short delay, so if one teleports to you, just step away. You don't even have to kill them; they give peanuts in XP anyway.
Raid boss
Anais - Lord of Splendor. An aggressive level 80 RB with 5 minions. Sees through invisibility. In the game it's listed on the map as None and is level 87.
Note: The large number of mobs in the Grail room makes killing the boss harder, and the RB can't be led out of the room (even if you manage to lure the guards out the door, Anais himself won't come out). However, the room has special little mobs: Holy Brazier when such a "pillar" is killed, all mobs nearby disappear and don't reappear until Brazier'a. respawns. Clear the "pillars" nearest you and farm to your heart's content)
RB drops:
Angel Halo, IC and Saint Spear pieces, EAS
Leveling
As in any other location, there's one rule – come and kill. Thanks to the many rooms with different numbers and types of mobs, in MoS you can find a spot for practically any party, from mini (duo, trio) to full. Besides, next to each room there's a safe corridor or room where you can take a break, which is handy for long leveling sessions.
For optimal results, of course, it's better to have at least a NON-holy attribute in your weapon (ideally dark) and holy resistance in your armor, or at least holy and fire resist buffs.
In the first-floor rooms that have 2 groups of Monastic Crusaider, pole users level quite well (the angels are gathered into the right corner by an unarmed puller, which keeps the mages out of the train), though with some skill you can also train in the large halls upstairs, despite the mage mobs.
