Subclass system
A new NPC was added: Subclass/Dual Class Master Reanee. To start a new subclass or remove an old one, you need to visit this NPC. The ability to add and remove subclasses was taken away from all other NPC. Also, at the NPC Subclass/Dual Class Master Reanee you can remove a subclass or change it to another with
Subclass Change Certificate
How to get a subclass
At level 85 you can complete the quest Red Thread of Fate and gain the ability to add a subclass.
Criteria for choosing a subclass
After completing the quest Red Thread of Fate, talk to NPC Subclass/Dual Class Master Reanee in Talking Island Village (Awakening) to choose a subclass.
Subclass restrictions
You can't choose a subclass from the same group as the main class.
Overlord and Warsmith can't be chosen as subclasses.
Elves and Dark Elves can't take the opposite race as a subclass.
Kamael can take only Kamael classes as subclasses. No one but Kamael can take Kamael classes as a subclass.
| Class groups | |
|---|---|
| Party | Classes in group 3 |
| Fighters | Dreadnought, Duelist, Titan, Grand Khavatari, Maestro, Doombringer |
| Knights | Phoenix Knight, Hell Knight, Eva's Templar, Shillien Templar |
| Rogues | Adventurer, Wind Rider, Ghost Hunter, Fortune Seeker |
| Archers | Sagittarius, Moonlight Sentinel, Ghost Sentinel, Trickster |
| Wizards | Archmage, Soultaker, Mystic Muse, Storm Screamer, Soul Hound |
| Summoners | Arcana Lord, Elemental Master, Spectral Master |

| Enchanters | Hierophant, Sword Muse, Spectral Dancer, Dominator, Doomcryer |
Switching subclasses
The way to switch between Subclasses has changed: previously you had to visit NPC, but now you use the switch in the character interface (Alt+T). You can switch between Subclasses freely, except in special areas where this is forbidden.
After switching, the buffs on the character disappear.
Also, the subclass won't have the tattoos (they won't disappear; the main class and the subclass each just have their own tattoos).
The following are kept: the PvP/PK counter, clan, Territory War registration, recommendations, friends list, party room information and quests. The inventory and warehouse are also shared between the main class and subclasses.
After switching, the character is affected by
Identity Crisis (1570): for 15 seconds the character is confused. While confused, combat abilities are reduced, and the character can't use skills or items (except potions) or change class.
Subclass development
Subclass development starts at level 40
When you get a subclass, it's level 40 and all skills up to level 40 inclusive are already learned, so you won't need to spend SP on them.
A subclass can be developed up to level 80.
When the first subclass reaches level 75, you can choose a second subclass. When the second subclass reaches level 75, you can choose a third subclass. A character can have 3 subclasses in total (one of which can later be developed into a dual class). There are no limits on the number or timing of class switches.
Subclass certification
In the Awakening update all old skills were removed and new ones were introduced for your main class.
Certification details
Skill certification takes place at subclass levels 65, 70, 75 and 80. The main class can get 4 skills from each subclass, 12 skills in total from 3 subclasses. You can't learn skills from more than 3 different subclasses. When a subclass is cancelled, the learned skills aren't cancelled; if needed, you can only cancel all learned skills at once. The available skills don't depend on the subclass's class. Certified subclass skills work for the main class, the second class (dual class) and subclasses.
Subclass / Dual Class Manager
A NPC was added: Subclass/Dual Class Administrator Trandon; the rights to issue subclass skill certificates have been passed to them. NPC Trandon is in Talking Island Village (Awakening). The rights to subclass skill certification were taken away from the Grand Masters and Magisters.
Subclass Skills
Subclass skills were changed as follows:
| Subclass Skills | ||

Canceling learned skills
At the Subclass/Dual Class Administrator Trandon in Talking Island Village (Awakening) you can cancel all certified skills obtained from a subclass at once. The procedure costs
10.000.000 Adena.
All previously certified skills are cancelled, and all certificates disappear from the inventory.
Then you can get the certificates again.
The Dual Class System
One of the subclasses can be turned into a second class, the Dual Class.
How to get a Dual Class
When the main class reaches level 85 and goes through Awakening, one of the subclasses (that has reached level 80 and the third class) can be developed into a Dual Class.
Characters can develop only one subclass into a dual class, so think your decision over carefully before starting the quest.
To get a dual class, you need to complete the quest Split Destiny.
After completing the quest, the chosen subclass's maximum level changes from 80 to 99.
On Awakening, the Dual Class gets compensation for enchanted skills in the form of
Essence of the Lesser Giants.
Dual Class features
The Dual Class has the base stats of the chosen class.
The Dual Class can be developed up to level 99.
The Dual Class can go through Awakening.
On Awakening, the base stats and racial skills change to match the character's race.
