Description
Ivory Tower — the Ivory Tower stands in the center of an area resembling a crater left by a meteorite in ancient times. At first the building was erected at the impact site to direct research into the meteorite's mysterious power. Little by little, however, it grew larger to house the headquarters of all the Mages. The mysterious stone, called nebulite (nebulite), is known to be able to increase magical power. Rumor has it that it was safely placed deep inside the underground niches of the Ivory Tower.
The Ivory Tower of Oren has existed since the days of Elmoreden. It was considered a symbol of magical power with as much influence as the emperor. However, that influence quickly faded after the fall of the empire. Today its status has been reduced to a research institute of magic for an elite circle. Nevertheless, thanks to its very long history, the Ivory Tower's influence cannot be ignored. Since it has always kept a neutral position in politics and followed a policy of non-interference in disputes, it is relatively free from pressure from the kingdom or the estates.
The tower stands in the center of the crater. Two long bridges connect the tower to its edges. Where they meet, the huge Ivory Tower soars high into the sky, as if floating in light solitude, covered with elegant decorations.
The Ivory Tower is divided into several floors, and you can travel from one to another only with the help of the Gatekeeper. Public access is strictly limited; inside reigns a solemn and pious atmosphere. The tower's basement floor has shops. The nebulite is located in the center of this floor. The first floor has the lobby. The Human Mystics Guild is on the second floor, the Elven Mystics Guild on the third, and the Dark Mystics Guild on the fourth.
Warehouse Freightman Marty — the only representative of the dwarf race in this building. He says they even have their own branch in the Ivory Tower.
Trader Ian — a seller of magic clothing. He says the tower has enough power to shake the whole continent! According to him, all knowledge is kept here. "If the end of the world comes or is prevented, the tower will be responsible for it."
Trader Rex — a seller of magic weapons. He says there are also plenty of people in the tower without magical abilities — himself, for example. Rex was once a Paladin who took a vow to Einhasad. He still tries to stay true to his promise. In Rex's opinion, strange things happen in the tower, but it's better not to think about them too much, or they will consume you, so don't ask too many questions.
Magic Trader Wesley — a book and dye merchant. He says high-level spellbooks are carried by the monsters living around the Ivory Tower.
Trader Ralford — a seller of accessories and materials. She misses her native Elven village very much. She says all the goods she sells are made in the Ivory Tower.
Grand Magister Valleria, Head Summoner Kinsley, Magister Galios, Magister Marin — representatives of the Human Mystics Guild. From Kinsley you can learn that during the construction of the Ivory Tower, the summoners made an agreement with the emperor of the Cat tribe (Kat). Severe trials had brought the Cat tribe to the brink of extinction. The Magisters of the Ivory Tower offered to move them to Elysium, the astral world, on condition that they would return and help humans if they ever needed it.
Grand Magister Arkenias, Magister Joan, Magister Gauen — representatives of the Elven Mystics Guild. From Joan you can learn that half of the Ivory Tower was destroyed in the days of the Elmoreden Empire. At that time the Tower was strong enough to control the continent, but afterwards it turned into a purely research and educational center.
Grand Magister Fairen, Magister Ladd, Magister Kaiena — representatives of the Dark Mystics Guild.
Capitan Roy, Guard Tavillian, Guard Yening, Guard Tebose — guards protecting the entrances to the Ivory Tower. From Tebose you can hear a story told to him by a drunk friend who worked in the Tower. It says that the Ivory Tower was built at the meteorite's impact site and that the mages used its power to rule the Elmoreden Empire. Time passed, its power began to fade, and with it the influence of the Ivory Tower. Then, 50 years ago, a Great Mage began experimenting with the meteorite's power. However, his work was not completed, and the mystics have yet to restore even a semblance of their former greatness. Tebose isn't sure the story is true.
Many magical creatures drawn by the power of the nebulite live around the Ivory Tower. In addition, creatures that escaped while the masters in the tower were conducting research also roam around, threatening travelers.
