Quest walkthrough
To open Hellbound () on the server, at least one party has to complete the quest "Bird in a Cage", taken from Kanis
in the south of Isle of Prayer
; characters of level 78+ can take the quest:
To do this, you need to kill 3 raid bosses in 3 instances (Emerald Squaer, Steam Corridor, Coral Garden) Crystal Caverns located at the bottom of the lake in the center of Isle of Prayer
:
To enter Crystal Caverns, every party member must have
Contaminated Crystal in their inventory; it is given as a reward for clearing the mini-instance for duos Dark Cloud Mansion:
You have 30 minutes to clear Dark Cloud Mansion. In that time you need to clear the dungeon of mobs and, in the last room, correctly guess 3 mobs out of 7. If everything is done correctly, a portal out of the dungeon appears, and on exit
Contaminated Crystal is added to your inventory.
To clear it, the group must include a Adventurer, although they can be replaced by one of the Kamael; but besides disarming traps, the Adventurer can pull mobs 1 at a time to the rest of the party and thus increase the chances of success.
Besides the trap specialist, you will need to obtain specific items from Isle of Prayer, without which the instances cannot be cleared.
-
Secret Key — needed to open the doors to the secret rooms with mini-bosses in Emerald Squaer; you can get them by completing the task Grand Isle of Prayer Race, taken in the southeast of Isle of Prayer
from Rignos
:
This is not a quest but a task, so after taking it you don't need to look for it in the list of current quests; instead, the character gets Timer as a buff, and before the time runs out you must run through 4 houses and knock
Race Stamp out of the mobs inside: 4 Stamp in total, 1 from each house. The item is given only by the mobs standing in the center; they don't fight back, and you can hit them just like when dyeing cloths on Baium. The first house is next to Rignos
, the other 3 are here:
Having got 4 Stamp, run back to Rignos
and receive
3 Secret Key; if you don't make it in time, you will have to start over.
-
Red Coral and
Crystal Fragment drop from Eva's Gift Box
(the character must have the Kiss of Eva buff, otherwise nothing will drop); they are in the lake in the center of Isle of Prayer
.
In addition, you will have to visit Chromatic and beat up Dark Water Dragon (lv. 82). After its death a blue dragon appears whose HP keeps dropping; you need to keep it alive for about 5 minutes (it can only be healed by Restor Life and c using Spirit of the Lake), after which it disappears, leaving
Water Dragon Scale or
Water Dragon Claw as drop — they cannot be traded, and everyone who goes to Crystal Caverns. needs them
After entering Crystal Caverns, the party finds itself in a room with 2 closed corridors and Oracle Guide in the center. Here the party leader must choose which corridor to take by selecting the corresponding line in the dialog Coral Garden or Emerald Squaer, Steam Corridor. In the second corridor you will need to choose again by killing the corresponding mob, which drops the key to the next door (left Emerald Squaer, right — Steam Corridor). You have 90 minutes to clear it.
Emeral Squaer
The easiest instance. The mobs won't cause problems; it has 4 secret rooms with mini-bosses (just beefy mobs with x10-x20 HP). To enter the first one, the Adventurer must find and disarm the trap near the door. Inside it is NPC, who will explain what the shards dropped by mobs on Isle of Prayer
are for. To enter the other rooms, kill all mobs in the accessible part of the dungeon, and 1 party member must have at least
3 Secret Key. To open a door, it is enough for the one acting as the key holder to walk up to it; after that the rest of the party can enter and clear the room, while the key holder must stay in front of the door. If he goes inside, the door slams shut and everyone will have to use SoE, so after opening the door he can sit down and wait until everyone comes out after the clear. After all the mini-bosses are killed, the room with the raid boss Darnel (lv. 79) opens. The raid boss itself is not very tough, but it actively uses traps and mass paralysis (healers stand farther away, and damage dealers try not to run around). After it is killed, everyone receives
Blue Crystal and
White Seed of Evil - Shard.
Steam Corridor
The hardest instance. Besides the standard 90-minute limit for clearing it, each room has a limited time, set as a timer on everyone in the party. To clear it, everyone must have at least
Red Coral. After you clear a room of mobs, portals appear on the side opposite the entrance. Heal 1 until the others disappear, and the leader moves the party to the next room. Each room is harder than the previous one and has 2 traps, which you'd better disarm. Having gone through all the rooms, you get to the room with the raid boss Kechi (lv. 79). It has 1/4 of the HP of ordinary raid bosses, but roughly every time another 25% of its HP is taken off, about 9 or more very nasty mobs run into the room. After killing Kechi (lv. 79), everyone receives
Red Crystal and
White Seed of Evil - Shard.
Coral Garden
Also quite a hard instance. To clear it, the party needs
Crystal Fragment, and everyone needs 1-3
Water Dragon Scale. All mobs are quite tough (roughly like the mini-bosses in Emerald Squaer), and to avoid dying in 1 hit(s), besides Bless to Body and Chant of Victory you need to keep up Song of Vitality. First, kill all mobs in the whole accessible part of the dungeon, after which 2 golems Crystalline Golem (lv. 60) appear — you need to lure them into the small rooms opposite using
Crystal Fragment. When a lure succeeds, you will see an animation in the form of a blue light. When both golems are in place, the room with the raid boss Tears (lv. 79) opens. The raid boss uses the skill Freeze. It is hard because of two things: after a certain % of its HP is taken off, it splits into 8 or 9 copies, of which only one is real; the rest are decoys and deal 10 times less damage. The key is to find the real one by the damage it deals and hit only it (take off a few % of its HP and the decoys disappear). This will happen 3 or 4 times. When Tears (lv. 79) has 10% HP left, she uses Ultimate Defence, which works like Celestial Shield. To remove UD, all party members must target RB and use
Water Dragon Scale at the same time. Once UD is removed, finish off the raid boss and receive
Clear Crystal and
Black Seed of Evil - Shard.
After successfully clearing all three instances and having all 3 crystals (Blue, Red, Clear) in your inventory, you can try to kill Baylor (lv. 60). You can get to it after one of the dungeons Crystal Caverns. After the raid boss dies, the leader must choose the corresponding option in the dialog with the portal. Baylor (lv. 60) is 3—4 times tougher than Golkonda, with very strong mass skills and self-buffs. To make things easier, it's best to burn the raid boss's MP; besides that, Alarm (Monster) (lv. 78, 70) will appear in circles around the center of the room, and 1 damage dealers must kill them right after they spawn. When Baylor (lv. 60) has 30% HP left, it uses UD, similar to Tears (lv. 79) — it can be removed the same way, only instead of
Water Dragon Scale you need to use
Water Dragon Claw. After UD, mobs will spawn a couple of times, 4 per spawn; kill them and keep beating the guest of honor. This raid boss has no drop, but after its death a chest appears; break it and, if you're lucky, collect the drop. In the dialog with the portal, choose the meeting with Parme. You are then teleported to the room with NPC, who sits in a cage; talk to him and receive
Parme's Letter. Take it to Kanis
and complete the quest.
After that you can take the second quest: just walk up to Galate
, who stands near Warp Gate in the center of Heine
.
The first entry to Hellbound on the server must be made by a party through the dialog with Galate
; after that the island is open, and you can teleport via Warp Gate to Heine
or south of Wasteland
.
Completing these 2 quests is mandatory for everyone who wants to get access to Hellbound.
