Ceremony of Chaos
The Lineage 2 Chapter 2 - Tauti update introduced a new type of PVP competition: Ceremony of Chaos.

Background
Gran Kain, father of everything in this world, watched the progress of his daughter Shilen's evil plans. Though he felt resistance was futile, he saw that Humans, Elves, Dark Elves, Orcs, Dwarves and Kamael kept on fighting. The struggle was slow, but the races' fighting spirit drove them forward to victory.
Gran Kain was impressed by this and decided to help them, though he rarely involved himself in the struggle between Light and Darkness. Gran Kain called his servants, the fallen angels, and summoned the heroes of the races. He challenged their abilities, offering to share his own power with the winners and their clans.
Rumors spread among the races that a representative of the Gods — Paagrio, or perhaps Shyeed — was helping them fight against Shilen. Some also suspected Gran Kain himself, but strongly doubted it because of the God's nature.
The orders came from the palace, but their master could never be found. The orders were voiced by the Mysterious Butlers Lumiere (Lumiere) and Ains (Ains), who also organize the Festival itself. At first glance Lumiere may seem human, but it's only a mask meant to hide his angelic grace.
Lumiere has the ability to create spaces in other dimensions, and on Gran Kain's orders he created four arenas for the battles of the Ceremony of Chaos. The arenas exist in a dimension located between the material world and the world of Chaos, which Kain himself rules. It follows that Gran Kain can watch the fights in person. To protect the identity of the fights' organizer, the arenas were made in the style of familiar places in the material world.
Schedule and participant requirements
Ceremony of Chaos schedule
A Ceremony of Chaos period lasts 1 month. It begins at 00:00 on day 1 of each month and ends at 24:00 on the last day of the month. Competitions in Ceremony of Chaos are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 19:00 to 24:00, 3 times an hour, at .15/.30/.45 minutes past each hour. One character can take part in at most 16 battles a day.
Participant requirements
- Ceremony of Chaos PVP is clan-only content; to take part, a character must be in a clan.
- Anyone can take part in Ceremony of Chaos, provided they are level 76 or higher, have the 3 profession and are in a clan of level 3 or higher; subclasses and dual classes can also take part.
- However, if after applying a character changes in a way that no longer meets the conditions listed above, they can't take part in the game.
Ceremony of Chaos flow
Ceremony of Chaos contests are held from 19.00 to 24.00; invitations to take part are sent out from minute 0 to 5, from 15 to 20 and from 40 to 45 of each hour.
The invitation appears in the notification bar and at the bottom of the radar.
Moving to the arena
Minutes 5 / 25 / 45 of each hour are the deadline for accepting a Ceremony of Chaos invitation. At minutes 10 / 30 / 50 of each hour, participants are moved to the Ceremony of Chaos arenas. After the move, there is 1 minute to prepare. An arena can hold at most 18 participants.
The arenas can be roughly called:

- If a character is alone in a PvE contest, they must kill at least 5 monsters; if the character is killed or doesn't kill a single monster before the contest ends, it counts as a loss.
- If two or more characters are moved to the arena, then regardless of the contest type, the winner is the last survivor or whoever killed the most monsters during the contest. If a character is killed by monsters or another player, they lose. If two or more characters killed the same number of monsters during the match, a draw is awarded.
