Floran Village is a small town (village) south of Town of Dion.
During an unusually cold winter, the peasants of the town of Dion, unhappy with the cruel tax policy, rose up against Duke Byron Ashton. The Duke decided without hesitation to crush the uprising by force.
At first he decided to use the Shark army to crush the uprising — a band of mercenaries feared throughout the kingdom of Aden for their cruelty. But this plan was foiled by the guard Rovelt and his three friends, who stole the Duke's gold intended as payment for the band.
Then the Duke hired Soul Collector Acheron, a mad mercenary leader. Someone told Acheron that he would become immortal if he gathered a huge number of souls and sacrificed them to Shilen, the goddess of death.
In the end, Acheron and his men slaughtered so many peasants that even Duke Ashton was shocked by his cruelty. Reasoning soundly that dead peasants pay no taxes, the Duke executed the mad mercenary.
By this time Acheron had managed to exterminate almost all the peasants around Dion. The surviving peasants formed autonomous communities and called them Floran Village. In these communities free people live, and there's no corvée and no taxes.
Of course, the rebels would have been better off going to the mountain fortresses. But they weren't ready to give up their former way of life and so stayed in the village, on the open plains of Dion, where they often become easy prey for marauders and monsters.
The lack of a permanent town guard makes it extremely attractive to adventurers with a bad reputation. So the farmers formed a militia, led by Captain Alex, a former scout of the Royal Army of Aden, and his adjutant Leirynn.
