Soul Breaker (High Five) guide — Soul Breaker
Soul Breaker class guide for Lineage 2 High Five: how to get the class, which skills to take, what to wear and where to level.

General information
With this guide I wanted to help all Kamael as much as possible
So you've decided to become a Soul Breaker. Today it's the most versatile and hardest-to-control class in the game. Despite a warrior's stats and being unable to wear any armor except light, alongside physical skills it has the widest set of magic spells; and unlike dark elves, whose attack magic is more "for show", the SB has a full set of magic casts with power like a combat mage's, which it uses practically always, in every fight. In essence, the Soul Breaker is a half-mage, half-warrior, half-debuffer. And these "halves" are what make playing the class interesting. And at the same time they're the source of all its troubles.
As a rule, the Soul Breaker joins a melee party as a DD-debuffer. Its DPS on mobs is at about the same level as any dagger's, and besides, it can support the party with its set of debuffs. In PvP the Soul Breaker is an auxiliary DD-debuffer. All its attack skills, like those of other Kamael, consume souls. They can be used without them, but each soul adds about +6% to the skill's power, up to a maximum of +30% from five souls.
Also, the Soul Breaker is the only owner in the game of the unique party buff "ultimate skill". To apply it you need any rapier enchanted to +4 or higher. On a rapier crit +4 on a mob, player or NPC, with a chance of about 15%, an eight-second party buff is applied that increases M. Atk. by 10%, P. Atk. by 10%, and the whole party's healing effect by +20%; in addition, while it's active, all physical skills are used without MP cost, and magic ones consume 2-3 MP. Also, the Soul Breaker is the only class that can use the Mark of Death skill (a magic debuff that lowers the target's M. Def. and P. Def. (-23%) and works like poison - slowly reducing the victim's HP) to its full extent, with a very high land chance.
Which is better, a male or a female Soul Breaker? Comparing them is silly, really, but if it comes to that...
Male and female Soul Breakers come from different "schools". They have different stats, different development paths and accordingly a slightly different set of skills; all of this makes the male and female Soul Breaker somewhat different classes, with different PvP tactics and different capabilities, despite the common name and race.
So, what's the difference? Well, first, the stats. The male has slightly more STR and INT, the female more DEX and MEN. Second, the set of skills and passives of the 1 class. The male inherits from the Berserker, the female from the Arbalester.
Accordingly, among useful skills the male keeps Sword Shield — a 1600 P. Def. bonus, Courage — increases resistance to various debuffs, the skill-reflecting aura, Rush and Disarm.
Female Soul Breakers keep Ultimate Escape and Warp among useful skills. The other skills are for crossbows, and although in theory you can come up with some use for them, in reality they're completely useless.
In practice, both classes perform their DD functions equally well. But while, for example, a female Soul Breaker, when things get really bad, can turn on Ultimate Escape and, using the Jump, escape from practically any class in L2, a male Soul Breaker can't do that. On the other hand, he has UD, which will save his skin more than once.
Stats and skills
First, unlike other classes, male and female Kamael stats differ, so if you're a male Soul Breaker, your stats will look like this:
If you chose a female Soul Breaker, your stats will be:
That is, with a male we get slightly higher physical and magic attack power, with a female - slightly higher evasion and running speed, and also slightly faster MP regeneration and magic defense. On the other hand, women's lower INT slightly worsens the debuff land chance, though the stat difference is only one point and often it's simply not noticeable.
First class skills
Frankly speaking, of all the 1 class skills I'd advise learning only the passives, magic attacks and buffs/debuffs. Because, first, you'll always be short of SP, at least until levels 60+. And second, these skills are rarely needed during the 20-40 leveling period. Though, of course, if you want, nothing stops you from learning them.
[[Abyssal_Blaze_(1433)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Abyssal_Blaze_(1433)&action=submit: A magic attack with the dark attribute. Uses 5 souls. A must-learn!
[[Dark_Explosion_(1434)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Dark_Explosion_(1434)&action=submit: An AoE magic attack. Uses 5 souls. A "so-so" skill. Don't learn it.
[[Double_Thrust_(478)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Double_Thrust_(478)&action=submit: Used with a rapier. Uses 5 souls. Overhit. I didn't learn it... and don't advise you to.
[[Death_Mark_(1435)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Death_Mark_(1435)&action=submit: A magic debuff. Lowers the target's magic and physical defense (-23%), works like poison - slowly reduces the victim's HP. Lasts 30 sec., cast from a distance of 600. In fact, one of the Soul Breaker's most important skills. A must-learn!
Surrender to Dark: A magic debuff. Lowers the target's resistance to dark magic. Reduces the dark defense attribute by -30. Not the most important skill in your arsenal, but quite usable at the Olympiad.
[[Erase_Mark_(1475)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Erase_Mark_(1475)&action=submit: Often only level 1 is learned - to see the animation =). I don't remember a case where it was useful to me; learn it if you like, last of all.
[[Furious_Soul_(482)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Furious_Soul_(482)&action=submit: Increases the chance and power of critical hits. Lowers Evasion and Physical Defense. The buff lasts 2 minutes and has a cooldown of about a minute and a half. +20% crit chance, +25% crit power, -20% P. Def. A great skill for leveling on mobs with magic attacks or in a party with tanking characters. A must-learn.
Summon Merrow the Unicorn: Turns a regular weapon into a Kamael weapon.
- Two-handed sword - into an Ancient Sword
- One-handed sword - into a Rapier
- Bow - into a Crossbow
A common skill for all Kamael. Everyone gets it at level 20. A must-learn; you can't do without it. And it looks nice when cast. To use it, equip the right type of weapon and use the skill.
There are some restrictions on using it:
- Shadow weapons can't be transformed
- Already augmented weapons can't be transformed
[[Soul_Mastery_(467)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Soul_Mastery_(467)&action=submit: Increases the maximum number of souls you can carry and also gives a chance to get an extra soul on a critical hit. The higher the mastery level, the more souls you can store and the higher the chance to absorb a soul on a crit.
- Level 5 - 5 souls and a 15% chance to absorb an extra soul on a crit
- Level 74 - 40 souls and a 30% chance to absorb an extra soul on a crit
At some point it's worth pausing its learning to save SP. I recommend learning the skill up to 20 souls and putting it off until better times.
[[Light_Armor_Mastery_(465)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Light_Armor_Mastery_(465)&action=submit: Increases physical defense and evasion when wearing light armor. Also lowers the power of critical hits you take by 5% and the chance of taking critical hits by 5%. Of course, it can't compare with the similar passives of daggers and tanks, but thanks for that too.
[[Magic_Immunity_(466)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Magic_Immunity_(466)&action=submit: Increases magic defense and, besides that, gives a 25% chance to make a debuff fail, which is very nice in itself.
[[Rapier_Mastery_(474)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Rapier_Mastery_(474)&action=submit: Increases physical attack with rapiers. Let me stress, only physical attack.
Dark Armor: A toggle. When on, adds +10 to the dark attack attribute. Doesn't consume MP. For a Soul Breaker, with its leaning toward dark attack, it's a must-have. Learn it and forget — use it gradually as needed.
Dark Armor: A toggle. Adds +10 to the dark defense attribute. Doesn't consume MP. A "turn on and forget" skill. Turn it on when you log into the game.
[[Hard_March_(479)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Hard_March_(479)&action=submit: Aura. Adds +20 to running speed. Consumes MP. Use carefully, though the skill is very useful.
Skills only the male Soul Breaker has
[[Increase_Power_(1432)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Increase_Power_(1432)&action=submit: Increases physical attack; replaced by the Might buff. Can only be used on yourself.
- Lvl.1 - +8% to P.Atack
- Lvl.2 - +12% to P.Atack
[[Courage_(499)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Courage_(499)&action=submit: For a minute increases resistance to mental attacks, i.e. to all sorts of junk like root, sleep and other nasty debuffs. Later it's developed by Berserkers, but it won't hurt Soul Breakers either.
[[Disarm_(485)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Disarm_(485)&action=submit: Later only Berserkers learn this skill. But even its first level will save our life more than once. When it triggers, it moves the enemy's equipped weapon into their inventory and doesn't let them equip it for 8 seconds. The success chance depends strongly on level - from almost 100% at levels 30-40 to 5-10% at level 70+. But the skill is very nice anyway.
[[Sword_Shield_(483)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Sword_Shield_(483)&action=submit: Increases physical defense while lowering running speed. Like the tanks' UD, except you can run in it and, unfortunately, it only adds P. Def. Lasts 30 seconds, cooldown 5 minutes, increases defense by 1600.
[[Rush_(484)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Rush_(484)&action=submit: Instantly moves you to the target and strikes. The skill has no cooldown. Maximum distance 400, minimum - 200. Works on monsters and characters. Used only with a rapier/ancient sword in hand. In fact, this is the skill that makes it impossible to run away from a male Soul Breaker.
[[Strike_Back_(475)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Strike_Back_(475)&action=submit: Aura. With a small chance reflects the enemy's physical skill back at them. Uses very little MP - with the aura on, mana regen drops by about 30-50%. Always turn it on in fights with any skill users - a dagger's skill reflected in PvP in most cases leads to the death of that hapless dagger user.
Skills only the female Soul Breaker has
[[Ultimate_Escape_(622)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Ultimate_Escape_(622)&action=submit: Gives +20 evasion and +33 running speed. Lasts 20 sec, cooldown 15 min. A superb skill that will save the female Soul Breaker's life more than once. Contrary to rumors, it doesn't protect from skills and magic; it only helps dodge normal hits and shots.
[[Warp_(628)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Warp_(628)&action=submit: Teleports you 400 forward; it works without a target and has a relatively long cooldown, unlike the boys' similar skill. It doesn't jump over obstacles.
[[Rapid_Attack_(469)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Rapid_Attack_(469)&action=submit: Gives +8% to physical attack speed. Replaced by the Haste buff.
[[Fast_Shot_(490)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Fast_Shot_(490)&action=submit: Increases crossbow attack speed. A full equivalent of the archers' similar skill, only it works exclusively with crossbows.
Second class skills
Offensive
[[Soul_of_Pain_(1436)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Soul_of_Pain_(1436)&action=submit: A dark magic attack that has some chance to drop the enemy's target, by eye about 20-25%. Uses 5 souls. At level 74 the skill power is 108 - the same as battle mages' nukes. Fast to cast, fast cooldown - the Soul Breakers' main weapon.
[[Annihilation_Circle_(1438)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Annihilation_Circle_(1438)&action=submit: - A dark magic AoE attack. Uses 5 souls. At level 74 the skill power is 108 - the same as battle mages' nukes. Casts and cools down slower than Soul of Pain and costs a bit more Mana.
[[Curse_of_Divinity_(1439)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Curse_of_Divinity_(1439)&action=submit: A magic attack whose damage depends on the number of buffs on the enemy - the more buffs, the higher the damage. Uses 5 Souls. Damage to a fully buffed player can reach x1.5-x2.5 of Soul of Pain's damage.
[[Dark_Flame_(1437)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Dark_Flame_(1437)&action=submit: A short-range dark element spell. Attacks the enemies in front of you with dark magic, dealing extra magic damage. Reduces enemies' movement speed by 30% for 5 sec. Long cast, long cooldown, but sometimes it can come in handy.
Shining Edge: A physical skill, used only with a rapier; triggers with a certain chance and consumes 5 souls. Mechanically it's a full equivalent of dagger skills. From behind it lands twice as often as from the front, from the side slightly more often than from the front; the damage grows with buffs that increase critical damage.
[[Triple_Thrust_(504)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Triple_Thrust_(504)&action=submit: A physical skill used only with a rapier, uses 5 souls. Average damage; by some incomprehensible Korean logic it can't be enchanted for dark.
[[Spread_Wing_(492)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Spread_Wing_(492)&action=submit: A physical skill that damages enemies within a radius of 400 around the character. Uses 5 souls. A flashy skill with an acceptable cooldown and nice damage; together with the circle of annihilation it lets you level on group mobs.
[[Checkmate_(506)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Checkmate_(506)&action=submit: A physical skill used only with a rapier, uses 5 souls. Can only be used if the target has the "Death Mark" debuff
[[Death_Mark_(1435)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Death_Mark_(1435)&action=submit: The strongest of the Soul Breakers' physical skills, can be enchanted for the dark element and can't be blocked by a shield. Unlike the Soul Breaker's other physical skills, it can deal a critical hit from the skill, damage multiplier x2-x3-x4.
Debuffs
Summon Kai the Cat: The Soul Breaker's unique skill: steals buffs from the enemy. Buffs are stolen in order, from the end to the beginning. At the first skill level it steals 3 buffs, at the last 7. It doesn't steal only the special hero buffs and Noblesse blessings. If you already have a similar buff, the stolen one replaces it.
[[Voice_Bind_(1447)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Voice_Bind_(1447)&action=submit: Prevents the enemy from casting magic spells, lasts 10 seconds.
[[Shadow_Bind_(1446)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Shadow_Bind_(1446)&action=submit: Roots the enemy to the ground for 10 seconds.
Soul Vortex: A mass spell; slows enemies within the skill's radius, takes off 30% running speed, lasts 1 minute.
[[Curse_of_Life_Flow_(1511)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Curse_of_Life_Flow_(1511)&action=submit: Once it's on the target, any character dealing damage to it has some chance to heal themselves for 200-300 HP. The chance to heal is small - about 15%. Although the description says it restores HP only to those who hit the target directly with normal attacks, in practice it also restores HP to those who hit the target with magic.
[[Blink_(1448)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Blink_(1448)&action=submit: A physical skill that teleports the Soul Breaker 400 backward. At the same time it damages and stuns the enemies that surrounded you at the starting point. When it lands, the stun lasts up to 2 seconds. Can be enchanted to increase the jump distance.
Positive effects
- [[Painkiller_(837)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Painkiller_(837)&action=submit: Lasts 9 seconds. While it's active, the character is completely immune to all kinds of effects - both bad and good. You can't deal damage, debuff or heal. If you try to attack an enemy or use any of your skills, the effect disappears.
- [[Dark_Weapon_(1443)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Dark_Weapon_(1443)&action=submit: At the last level gives +20 to the dark attack attribute. Cast on yourself and party members. Can be enchanted for a stronger effect.
- [[Protection_from_Darkness_(1442)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Protection_from_Darkness_(1442)&action=submit: Increases the dark defense attribute. Can be cast on any player without restriction, like any similar resistance.
-
Soul to Empower: At the last level, increases M. Atk. by 75%. Replaced by the "Empower" spell and its equivalents. - [[Pride_of_Kamael_(1444)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Pride_of_Kamael_(1444)&action=submit: Increases physical and magic attack by 10% and also increases the success chance of the "Sparkling Edge" skill. Lasts 3 minutes. Can be cast on yourself or another Kamael in your party; can't be cast on members of other races.
- [[Soul_Cleanse_(1510)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Soul_Cleanse_(1510)&action=submit: Removes any debuffs from yourself or another Kamael - at most 3 at a time. Can't be used on members of other races. A very useful skill in PvP for removing the enemy's debuffs.
Passive skills
[[Critical_Sense_(626)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Critical_Sense_(626)&action=submit Increases critical rate and critical damage.
[[Fast_Recovery_(832)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Fast_Recovery_(832)&action=submit Greatly increases CP, HP, MP. recovery speed
[[Abyssal_Power_(1474)|]] (')[http://linedia.com.ua/w/index.php?title=Abyssal_Power_(1474)&action=submit Increases M. Atk.
Evade Shot Increases casting speed and lowers reuse time.
Third class skills
Active skills
- Soul Strike. A magic spell; consumes 5 souls. Power 166. Doesn't enchant for dark, has no elemental basis.
- Soul Vortex. A magic attack; consumes 5 souls, power 112. Lowers the enemy's running speed, Atk. Spd., Casting Spd. and burns their MP. Doesn't enchant for dark, has no elemental basis, mostly used as a debuff.
- Leopold. A magic AoE attack, enchants for the fire element, consumes 5 souls, power 224. Casts for a very long time, deals good damage.
- Soul Rage. A physical skill. The equivalent of the Gladiators' and Tyrants' rage skills. Consumes 5 MP, 25 HP, charges 1 soul.
- Soul Vortex Extinction. A magic attack, used only if the target has Soul Vortex on it; deals additional damage, and the Soul Vortex effect disappears.
- Soul Shock. A physical attack; consumes 5 souls. Has an AoE effect in a 200-300 radius around the caster. Deals damage and paralyzes nearby enemies for 5-6 seconds. A very high success chance and fast reuse.
- Final Form. Transforms you into the Final Form. Requires 20 souls. A transformation in which your P./M. Def. and P./M. Atk. are greatly increased. It has its own set of skills:
- Death Beam - The equivalent of the Berserkers' rush with a strike.
- Nail Attack - A regular short-range skill
- Wing Assault - A very strong mass skill
- Soul Sucking - A peculiar skill. Cast on an enemy at a short distance — about 300-400; it looks like colored lightning between the Kamael and the enemy, and while the cast bar runs, it damages the enemy at a certain interval.
- Lightning Barrier. A self-buff. With a small chance, paralyzes enemies attacking you for 2-3 seconds. Duration 20 minutes.
- Arcane Power. A self-buff. For 20 seconds increases M. Atk. by 40%, casting speed by 50%, magic critical rate by 50%, and reduces MP consumption by 90%. Reuse half an hour.
Passive skills
- Health. Increases resistance to poison and bleeding by 20%.
- Wisdom. Increases resistance to mental attacks, as well as hold and sleep spells, by 20%.
- Skill Mastery. Gives a chance to use skills without reuse or with doubled duration. The chance depends on STR for physical skills and INT for magic ones.
- Rune Protection. M. Def. increases by 15%. When taking magic damage above 1000, there's a 30% chance to get a 10-second buff that raises magic defense by another 1000.
- Elemental Protection. Defense against Fire/Water/Earth/Wind attributes increases by 20. When taking magic damage above 1000, there's a 30% chance to get a 10-second buff that raises magic defense by another 1000.
- Balance Protection. Defense against the Dark and Holy attributes increases by 20. When taking magic damage above 1000, there's a 30% chance to get a 10-second buff that raises magic defense by another 1000.
- Warrior's Will. When using any weapon type except a bow/crossbow, P. Atk. increases by 100 and attack speed by 10%. When attacking, with some chance a 10-second buff is applied that raises critical rate by 28 and skill power by an unknown percent.
- Archer's Will. When using a bow, Accuracy increases by 8 and bow range by 50. On a normal attack, with some chance a 10-second buff is applied that raises critical rate by 28.
- Sixth Sense. Increases evasion by 15 when HP is below 30%.
- Find Weakness. With some chance applies a debuff to an enemy attacking you, lowering its P. Def. and increasing the frequency of critical hits on it.
Character leveling
Level wherever it's convenient, safe and profitable. Here are just some locations with relatively convenient and calm leveling under the newbie buff.
1-20
Quickly level up to 18 through the Newbie Helper's quests and go do the class quest.
20-40
At first you can poke at orcs, bears and eyes near Dion, in the Cruma Marshlands (it's too early for Cruma itself), and you can also visit the Abandoned Camp.
At around level 30, head to the Elven Grove/Ant Nest/Death Pass/Hardin's Academy and level there all the way.
then quickly complete Certified Soul Breaker. (just one mark! which can't but please)
40-45
- Alligator Island. Good drops, few people, mobs with high evasion — you can convert the rapier back into a sword; +3 accuracy won't hurt at all.
- Sea of Spores. Medium crowding, decent drops, not very vicious mobs, but the spiders cast poison, so pick up antidotes. D and low C gear drops
- Cruma Tower. Excellent C gear drops, relatively many people; you can solo, but it's better to run in a party with 1-2 DDs.
- Hunters' Village - the orcs and giants around the village. D gear drops.
- Timak Outpost near Oren. Medium crowding; you can farm coins for the quest Coins of Magic.
- The catacombs by Giran Harbor. Good leveling, but better to go there in a party with a healer and a couple of DDs.
45-55
- Enchanted Valley. Decent C gear drops, quite a lot of people; level at the bottom first, and closer to 50-52 move up. The mobs are fairly tough, so stock up on HP potions
- Cruma Tower. Go up to floor 2; the C gear drops are even better, there are even more people; you can solo, but it's better with 2-3 people in the party.
- Forest of Mirrors. Medium crowding; lots of EEs/Bishops who will steal your mobs.
- Around the town of Aden. Quite a lot of people on the Silenos, plenty of bot trains.
- Around the Ivory Tower. Good leveling — almost all the mobs are vulnerable to melee weapons.
- Bandit Stronghold forest. Lots of mages and Bishops/EEs in Inquisitor, bots appear; try not to go deep and pull one mob at a time.
55-61
- Forgotten Plains. Lots of people, herbs drop, B-grade gear and recipes for top B armor/jewelry drop.
- The Cemetery: lots of people, vicious mobs, but some like it there.
- The Ice Labyrinth. Medium crowding, low B gear drops; you can try AoE leveling with your 2 mass skills (Spread Wings and Circle of Annihilation).
- Oren, the mini-bosses around the town. You can go there at level 58, after getting the mass nuke, and try AoE leveling, killing mobs with mass skills.
61-65
- The Forbidden Gateway. Lots of people, but there are usually Prophets selling buffs (20-30k)
- Forgotten Plains. Lots of people, herbs drop, B-grade gear and recipes for top B armor/jewelry drop.
- The Battleground. Vicious mobs, but quite a lot of people and decent B gear drops.
- Around Goddard. Antelopes, Wolves, Kookaburras. Leveling goes great, even though all the mobs are bright red. The wolves stun, but the XP there is excellent.
- Blazing Swamp. Level on the weaker mobs. Although there are always lots of people, leveling is pleasant — top B gear and low A gear drop.
65-70
- Blazing Swamp. Go further in, take the quest Supplier of Reagents and farm its quest items.
- Forest of the Dead. A good spot, but you need buffs and heals. The mobs hit with dark, wind and fire. Take the quest chain from the Necromancer at the teleport. Take the quest from the NPC in the Cursed Village.
- Wall of Argos. Start from the edge of the location and move deeper. A-grade gear and recipes are farmed here. Better go there in a mini party.
- Hot Springs. Better go in a mini party: lots of mobs, weakened defense. Almost all are x2, almost all stun.
- Tower of Insolence. You need a good party with a healer and a buffer. Be sure to take the quest Legacy of Insolence. The mobs are vicious, use magic and are social. But the XP is excellent.
- Around Goddard. Antelopes, Wolves, Kookaburras. Leveling goes great, even though all the mobs are bright red. The wolves stun, but the XP there is excellent.
- Blazing Swamp. You can move on to stronger mobs (if your gear allows). Although there are always lots of people, leveling is pleasant — top B gear and low A gear drop.
- Swamp of Screams. Hunt Stakato; you can take the quest chain. Start at the entrance and move deeper as your level grows. The mobs aren't very vicious, all are x1, and all are vulnerable to melee weapons.
- Valley of Saints. Angel-race mobs, all vulnerable to dark. All have high evasion and all hit very hard with magic/skills. You can level only with skills — if you had +STR/-CON tattoos, you must remove them — but the leveling is very rich: both XP and drops are excellent.
70-75

- Swamp of Screams. Hunt Stakato; you can take the quest chain. Start at the entrance and move deeper as your level grows. The mobs aren't very vicious, all are x1, and all are vulnerable to melee weapons.
- After level 72 you can go to Parnassus in a party with an SE/Prophet and try farming Fire Stones. The mobs are tough and vicious, but all are vulnerable to melee weapons — the ones on the shore die very easily.
- You can go to the Abandoned Workshop. A Warcryer buff is needed. Attribute stones drop there.
76+
Varka/Ketra/Hot Springs/WoA/IT/MoS/Pagan/catacombs/IoP
In short, there are lots of options; it all depends on buffs, gear and the party.
Character equipment
So, you're level 40. By this time you'll have about one and a half million adena in your pocket and a pile of D-grade junk. First, fly to the town of Giran, where you either sell all your D junk to the shop (including what you're wearing), or crystallize it and in turn sell the crystals to dwarf merchants, or thriftily put them in the bank (they might come in handy - who knows).
C grade
Go to the shop in Giran and buy your first decent set - Plated Leather, Plated Leather Gaiters and Plated Leather Boots; all this joy will cost you about 700-800 thousand adena. The set will give you +4 STR and take away -1 CON. HP barely suffers, but damage to mobs increases significantly. In principle, with a good party with a tanking character, you can level in this set all the way up to level 75+. After that, add the most expensive common C-grade helmet (Common Item - Full Plate Helmet) and the most expensive common C-grade gloves (Common Item - Full Plate Gauntlets); this will cost you another 40-50 thousand adena. Then, in the accessory shop, buy the most expensive common C-grade jewelry. And if you have enough money, in the weapon shop - Common Item - Samurai Longsword. If you don't have enough money, no problem - you have 15 coupons for a shadow C weapon - get a shadow C-grade rapier, and equipped this way you can boldly join the fight against monsters.
B grade
At level 52 you can wear B-grade armor and weapons. If you want and can, you can buy any common B armor set from players; it's not worth putting together proper B-grade armor — too expensive, and in just 9 levels you'll swap it for A grade
Weapon - closer to level 54-55 you should swap Common Item - Samurai Longsword for Common Item - Keshanberk or Common Item - Damascus. You can buy them from players in Giran or Aden, or drop them yourself. Keshanberk is cheaper and weaker, Damascus is more expensive and stronger.
Also, if possible, swap your common C-grade jewelry for common B-grade jewelry - (Common Item - Black Necklace, Common Item - Black Ring, Common Item - Black Earring)
A grade
Armor
Having reached level 61, immediately drop your common B grade (sell it to players or crystallize it) and buy common A grade. Which one exactly doesn't matter. It gives no bonuses; the only difference is P. Def., and even that's small. Now start thinking about which normal A set you'll collect next.
First, keep in mind that top-A and S sets can get a PvP enchant, which, for light armor, gives -5% of damage received in PvP and a +15% chance that the enemy loses you as a target when attacking.
There are 4 sets to choose from:
-
Tallum Leather Armor A low-A set. Gives +8% to MP, +222 MP, +80 regeneration speed, % to poison resistance, -80% chance of getting a bleeding wound, +2 MEN, -2 WIT.
We discard it right away - it gives no advantages for a Soul Breaker, and also lowers the already not-great casting speed. Although it's one of the prettiest Kamael sets (from High Five it's sold in Giran in the Prestige Goods Shop).
-
Dark Crystal Leather Armor A low-A set. Gives +4% P. Atk., +4% Atk. Spd., +50% to paralysis resistance, +1 STR, -1 CON.
A decent PvE set, a good alternative to Plated Leather (from High Five it's sold in Giran in the Prestige Goods Shop).
-
Leather Armor of Nightmare A top-A set; you can add a PvP enchant. Gives +4% M. Def., +70% to sleep and hold resistance, 3% of the damage dealt to the enemy is converted into your own HP +1 DEX, -1 CON.
An excellent A-grade set; it has a built-in vampiric effect and suits both leveling and PvP - sleep and hold resistance will help in combat more than once. You can add a PvP enchant. The downsides - the set is rather hard to collect and relatively expensive.
-
Majestic Leather Armor A top-A set; you can add a PvP enchant. Gives +8% P. Atk. for bows and crossbows, +240 MP, +5759 carrying capacity, -50% chance of getting shocked +1 DEX, -1 CON.
An excellent A-grade set, valued mainly for its stun resistance effect, for which many light armor wearers collect and wear it, even though its attack bonuses are only for bows. You can add a PvP enchant. A relatively expensive set, but also the easiest to collect because of its great popularity.
Weapons
By level 61 (when you can already wear A grade) it's better to buy at least
Sword of Damascus; closer to the end of level 60 / start of 70, you can swap it either for
Dark Legion's Edge or for the same blade but a normal one (if finances allow). A cheap alternative is a normal
Tallum Blade. Enchanted to +4, it will have more P. Atk. and M. Atk. than the Common Item - Dark Legion, give you the +4 rapier bonus, and cost 2-3 times less than a normal Dark Legion.
Besides a rapier, since by levels 60-70 you'll inevitably get involved in PvP, it's best to get some magic weapon. And although there are quite a lot of A-grade magic weapons, the choice is actually small; don't bother with crafting - buy a cheap common weapon from players. Either Common Item - Sword of Miracles or Common Item - Branch of the Mother Tree. Both are weapons of the same grade, but starting from Gracia Final, two-handed magic weapons have a bit more M. Atk., so the Branch of the Mother Tree is preferable.
S grade
Draconic Leather Armor +4% P. Atk., +4% Atk. Spd., +289 MP, +5759 carrying capacity +1 DEX, +1 STR, -2 CON.
An excellent set with a lot of armor compared to A sets; besides the PvP enchant, you can insert attribute stones. It's relatively easy to collect - the breastplate often drops in the Labyrinth at level 78, so it's very cheap on the market.
Since the High Five chronicles we have 2 options.
- 2 sword - Forgotten Blade. Of the worthwhile SAs, you can consider either Focus - increases critical rate by +84, or Health - increases max HP by 25%. Which option to choose is up to each player.
Dynasty Sword Dynasty Sword Of the worthwhile SAs, you can consider either Focus - increases critical rate by +84, or Health - increases max HP by 25%. Which option to choose is up to each player. PvP bonus: A chance to restore CP when the character is attacked.
5 kinds of magic weapons: with High Five
- Dynasty Phantom, into which you insert the Acumen SA, increasing casting speed by 15%. (red crystal, level 14)
- Imperial Staff with its only worthwhile SA - Empower, which gives another +60 to your M. Atk. An excellent weapon for mass PvP brawls, but in 1 vs 1 fights it may lack casting speed.
- Arcana Mace, into which you insert the Acumen SA, increasing casting speed by 15%. (red 13)
- Dynasty Mace , into which you insert the Acumen SA, increasing casting speed by 15%. (blue 14)
- Dynasty Staff , into which you insert the Acumen SA, increasing casting speed by 15%. (blue 14)
You can insert attribute stones into all S-grade weapons; as a rule, Soul Breakers insert Dark.
Tattoo builds
First, let's look at what increasing or decreasing the character's stats gives us.
- Strength - This stat determines physical damage from normal hits. It has little effect on the damage of the Soul Breaker's physical skills, such as Checkmate, Blade Rush, etc. At the same time, lowering or raising the stat strongly affects normal hit damage.
- Dexterity - Determines attack speed, crit frequency, running speed, evasion and accuracy. Adds a little of everything.
- Constitution - Determines your HP and CP, their recovery speed, resistance to stun and bleeding, and the weight limit. Given our naturally low CON, any manipulation of it noticeably affects the chance of being stunned.
- Intelligence - Magic attack power and debuff landing. It strongly affects both the debuff land chance and the damage of magic skills.
- Wit - Affects the casting speed of magic skills and the magic critical rate.
- Mentality - Affects magic defense, MP and its recovery speed, and resistance to all debuffs.
So, tattoo builds are usually divided into 2 types - a PvE build and a PvP build.
PvE
- The PvE build - designed for the most convenient and fastest leveling.
It depends on your abilities, leveling style, gear and party makeup.
- The most common PvE tattoo is the shop +4STR/-5CON. This way we increase rapier hit power at the cost of some HP.
It's worth getting once you've outgrown levels 40+ and changed from Plated Leather (Plated Leather) into something else. Since this armor itself gives +4 STR, it's not worth cutting your HP once again. Though some daredevils do it, ending up with ++8 STR and losing -6 CON.
- Besides that, you can leave your stats alone altogether - if you play in a clan with many enemies, or simply PvP often, it's better not to change your stats. On the one hand, this will somewhat weaken your hits on mobs; on the other, it ensures enough survivability to wage war successfully. Also, if you level solo or in a mini party and mostly use skills rather than normal hits, you shouldn't get tattoos either - survivability suffers a lot while the damage bonus is tiny.
PvP
- The PvP build - designed for maximum effectiveness in PvP.
Since in combat we mostly use magic and physical skills that depend very little on STR, Soul Breakers very often cut STR in favor of increasing CON and DEX. They use the expensive tattoos from the Merchant of Mammon. For example, +4DEX/-4STR, +4CON/-4STR, or just +4CON/-4STR. This noticeably lowers the Soul Breaker's effectiveness as a DD while leveling, but somewhat raises survivability - more HP, CP and stun resistance from increased CON, and slightly more evasion and running speed from increased DEX.
Besides changing physical stats, some Soul Breakers also get a +4INT/-4WIT tattoo - cutting casting speed in favor of M. Atk. Whether this tattoo is worthwhile is still an open question. On the one hand, magic spell damage and debuff land chance increase somewhat. On the other, in some cases, for example in PvP against daggers, you may not have enough casting speed to cast a nuke/debuff.
