Seven Signs — Seven Signs
Chronicles: Goddess of Destruction|High Five
Seven Signs
Introduction
- The add-on Lineage 2 - Chronicle 3: Rise of Darkness introduced the global event Seven Signs (Seven Signs), which pits two opposing factions against each other (Revolutionary Army of Dusk (Revolutionaries of Dusk) and Lords of Dawn (Lords of Dawn)); each participant chooses which one to belong to in each cycle of the event. In practice, though, the event usually gets hollowed out. It turns from a competition into a formality, with all active participants signing up for the same side. During the seal period the winning side gets benefits and the losing side gets penalties. Still, it has a significant effect on the game economy, since the second most important currency can be considered the so-called
Ancient Adena (ancient adena, "aa") obtained by taking part in the "Seven Signs". With ancient adena the side that won and took the needed seals can upgrade its equipment at the special NPC "Blacksmith of Mammon" (Blacksmith of Mammon) and buy rare items from the "Merchant of Mammon" (Merchant of Mammon).
History
- The chronicles of Aden preserve stories about the gods, the creation of the world and its destruction. Thus came down to us the legend of the fall of the lesser goddess - Shilen, goddess of water. Today she is the goddess of the dark moon, forgotten by all except her children. Few remember that Shilen created the Wood Elves. The Wood Elves themselves prefer to worship her successor - the lesser goddess Eva. And only the Dark Elves remain loyal to their foremother.
- The story of Shilen's fall is very well described in the Chronicles of Chaos, and I won't give it here in full. However, it's worth noting that these chronicles left out the most important thing - how Shilen managed to escape Einhasad's wrath. Or did they deliberately keep silent, so that many wouldn't be tempted to plunge the world into the abyss of Chaos again? But now that doesn't matter. The secret is out; now everyone must learn of it, otherwise the coming of Chaos is inevitable.
- The Chronicles of Chaos only mention that Shilen spent her last strength not on saving her children - the dragons - but on creating a protective barrier that divided the continent of Aden. The part now known as the kingdom of Aden was a scorched piece of land. The eastern part, where Shilen remained, was untouched by Einhasad's wrath.
- No one knows what spell it was, but even Einhasad herself couldn't break through the barrier. Trying to find even the slightest weakness, Einhasad used the most terrible spells for several days, turning the once-flourishing Aden into a heap of ash-covered earth. The few survivors fled west. The surviving dragons - the most vicious, cunning and treacherous - hid in the deepest caves.
- Shilen's joy at escaping Einhasad's revenge was short-lived. She found herself imprisoned by her own spell. Historians disagree here: some believe Shilen couldn't have created such a spell alone, and Gran Kain must have helped. Others suggest the elder daughter far surpassed her mother in power, and that was the true reason for Einhasad's wrath. But both views are heretical, and very soon the supporters of both currents agreed that Einhasad was shocked by her daughter's betrayal.
- One way or another, salvation became a trap for Shilen. Trying to destroy her own spell, she realized only all seven gods together could do it, including Einhasad and Gran Kain. As it turned out, the barrier can't be crossed only by magical beings; it's permeable to living creatures. Over the centuries of her forced imprisonment, Shilen created the Seven Seals, into each of which one of the gods was to put their power. 6 emissaries of Shilen were sent to Aden - each was to reach the temple of one of the gods and beg for the gods' favor. The Seventh Seal, with Shilen's own power, stayed behind the barrier, awaiting its hour.
- Everything went quite well, and all the lesser gods gave their consent, though clearly not without Gran Kain's help. But the most surprising thing was that Einhasad also put her power into a Seal. Her reasons are unknown to us, but the fact remains. However… On the way east, the caravan with the emissaries was attacked. The attack was repelled, but the Seals vanished without a trace. And although any mage can sense artifacts filled with the power of the gods from many kilometers away, the missing Seals were never found.
- Even though any Seal on its own could grant its owner unprecedented abilities, over hundreds of years no one used them. Much happened during that time. Kingdoms rose and fell. Strings of wars gave way to periods of prosperity. But no trace of the Seals. At first they were forgotten, then a new church reform eradicated any mention of them, as compromising Einhasad's perfection. Some of this information still survived in the caches of our Guild of Aden Researchers - an underground organization that collects truthful information about Aden's past and present.
- Imprisoned, Shilen at first resigned herself to the course of events. Then came despair and the realization that the Seals had disappeared clearly not without Einhasad's help. Anger flared with new force. Old grudges came back. And plans for revenge… With every day Shilen's anger only grew. Many still remember the time of Chaos that reigned over Aden. The gaping wound on the kingdom's body - the Wastelands - is a grim reminder of the gods' wrath and might.
- And just recently, three of the six vanished Seals reappeared on the continent of Aden. Where they came from, where they've been all this time, and where the remaining three are will remain a mystery. But the understanding that the time has come when the Seals will be used only darkens the future. Yet the knowledge that the three found seals are filled with the power of the lesser gods - Pa'agrio, Eva and Sayha - gives faint hope that the most powerful Seals won't be found for a long time, postponing the possibility of Shilen's release.
- Those born now were born in troubled times, a time of change and great deeds. Even those who have always stayed neutral must choose a side. Fight for possession of the Seals to use their power, bringing Chaos and Destruction into the world, or free Shilen and plunge the world into even greater Chaos and Destruction? We can allow neither, but we have no choice.
Event cycle
| Start of the competition | Week 1, Monday 18:00 |
| Competition Period | Registering for a side, collecting Seal Stones, taking part in the Festival of Darkness |
| End of the Competition Period | Week 2, Monday 18:00 |
| Tallying the results, start of the Seal Validation Period | Week 2, Monday 18:00-18:15 |
| Seal Validation Period | The winning side gets advantages, the losing side gets penalties |
| End of the Seal Validation Period | Week 3, Monday 15:45 |
- The event has a cyclical structure lasting two weeks. Each cycle starts every two weeks on Monday at 18:00. The cycle is also split into two stages - the Competition Period and the Seal Validation Period, 1 week each:
- The first week is the Competition Period. During the first period you can register for the event and, after registering, freely visit the necropolises and catacombs regardless of the side you chose.
- The second week is the Seal Validation Period. This week the losing side is effectively cut off from the 7 seals completely. Only the winning side has access to the catacombs and necropolises. The bonuses of activated seals take effect, such as: the Blacksmith and Merchant of Mammon, ghosts in towns, the monsters that drop seal stones in the dungeons change slightly, castle owners rejoice if seal 3 is activated, and event RBs appear in the dungeons - Lilith (level 75) or Anakim (level 75), depending on who won.
- Between the Competition Period and the Seal Validation Period (week 2 of the event, Monday) there's a 15-minute gap (from 18:00 to 18:15) called Results Calculation. Essentially nothing happens during it. It's just what the name says - collecting and counting the results. You can no longer influence the distribution of points between the sides, and the Seal Validation Period features don't appear yet.
- You can also find out the current period on the world map. In the lower left corner you'll see the word "Status:" and a description of the event's stage:
- Status: Event Period - corresponds to the Competition Period.
- Status: Calculating Results - the eve of the Seal Validation Period, lasts from 18:00 to 18:15.
- Status: Seal Validation Period - corresponds to the Seal Validation Period.
Register for the Preliminary Contest
- Players who want to take part in the fight for the Seals must join one of the sides for the event period: the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk) or the Lords of Dawn (Dawn). Once you've chosen a side, you can't change it or withdraw until the next cycle starts. After choosing a side, you need to choose the Seal you'll fight for; three seals are available: Seal of Avarice (Seal of Avarice), Seal of Gnosis (Seal of Gnosis), Seal of Strife (Seal of Strife). You can register with the Priests of Dawn (Priest of Dawn) or the Priestesses of Dusk (Priest of Dusk) in any settlement except starting villages.
- Players who haven't got their first class:
- Can't register to take part in the fight for the Seven Seals.
- Players who have their first class but not their second:
- Can freely register for either side.
- Players who have their second class:
- Registering for the Lords of Dawn (Dawn):
- You can register in any town at Priest of Dawn.
- Players in clans and alliances that own castles can register for free.
- Players not in castle-owning clans, or not in a clan at all, can choose the Lords of Dawn for a symbolic fee of
50000 Adena. Also, during the Competition Period, Castle Lords can buy
300 Lord of the Manor's Certificate of Approval from the Castle Chamberlain (Chamberlain), which lets players who get such a certificate join the Lords of Dawn for free without being in a castle-owning clan or alliance.
- Registering for the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk):
- You can register in any town at Priest of Dusk.
- Only players not in clans, or in clans that don't own castles, can register for the Revolutionaries of Dusk. Registration is free.
- Since the Lineage 2 - Hellbound update, a clan alliance that owns a castle can register for the Dusk side (Dusk).
What to do during the Competition period?
- During the fight for the Seals (the first week of the event), players registered for different sides can hunt monsters in Catacomb (Catacombs) and Necropolis (Necropolises) and take part in Festival of Darkness (the Festival of Darkness).
- To avoid a bad choice of side and seal, for
500 Adena you can buy
Record of Seven Signs from any priest, which describes in detail the current state of the 7 seals, each side's points and other useful things.
Useful quests
- While in the Catacombs or Necropolises, besides the usual farming of Seal Stones, it makes sense to take 2 quests - one to get
Dimensional Fragment, needed to get into Dimensional Rift (the Rift Between Worlds); the second to get
Blank Scroll, needed to buy some goods from Merchant of Mammon (the Merchant of Mammon): - In Search of Fragments of Dimension - talk to Dimensional Gate Keeper inside any Catacomb or Necropolis to take the quest. Dimensional Fragment drop from all monsters whose name prefixes contain the words Lookout, Watcher, Guard, Monk, Overlord, Shaman, Consul, Inquisitor, Guardian, Wiseman, Court Guard and Preacher (i.e. from all aggressive and social monsters). Fragments don't drop from monsters whose name prefixes contain Nephilim, Lilim, Gigant and Lilith (i.e. exactly those that should drop Seal Stones).
- Yoke of the Past - talk to Gatekeeper Ziggurat in front of the entrance to any Catacomb or Necropolis to take the quest.
Scroll of Ancient Magic drop from all monsters whose name prefixes contain the words Watchman, Watcher, Sentinel, Monk, Overlord, Priest, Archon, Inquistor, Guardian, Elder, Royal Guard, Preacher. To get
Blank Scroll you'll need to talk to Gatekeeper Ziggurat, and he'll exchange Scroll of Ancient Magic for Blank Scroll at a rate of 1 to 1.
Collecting Seal Stones
- One way to earn points for your side is collecting Seal Stones. To do this, hunt monsters in the Catacombs and Necropolises. Monsters that can give Seal Stones have the prefixes Gigant (Giant), Lilim (Lilim) and Nephilim (Nephilim) in their names. Seal Stones must be handed in to the Priests of Dawn and Dusk to get points.
Teleportation
- During the Competition Period you can teleport to both the Catacombs and the Necropolises from the Priests of either side for
Ancient Adena. - During the Seal Validation Period, only players of the winning side can teleport, and only if the winning side won Seal of Gnosis (the Seal of Gnosis).
Taking part in Festival of Darkness
- Festival of Darkness - the Festival of Darkness is a competition where your party must hold out for 18 minutes fighting monsters in a special dungeon:
| Category | Points for a win |
| Level 32 characters | 60 points |
| Level 42 characters | 70 points |
| Level 53 characters | 100 points |
| Level 64 characters | 120 points |
| Level 85 characters | 150 points |
Tallying the results
- From 18:00 to 18:15 on Monday of the event's second week (i.e. exactly when the Competition Period ends and the Seal Validation Period begins), the points earned by each side are counted. The score is made up of points for handed-in Seal Stones and points for taking part in the Festival of Darkness.
What to do during the Seal Validation period?
Getting Ancient Addena
- After the results are tallied, the winning side can get Ancient Adena from the Priests of Dawn/Dusk depending on how many and which stones they handed in (if any) during the Competition Period. If your side lost, you can get your Ancient Adena in one of the following cycles if it wins. You can also exchange Seal Stones for Ancient Adena during the Seal Validation Period, if you didn't hand in stones during the Competition Period or got more stones during the Seal Validation Period.
- No matter in which period you hand in stones, Competition or Seal Validation, the Ancient Adena reward for them is the same.
- If your chosen side loses, you can't hand in Seal Stones until the next cycle starts, so it makes sense to hand in Stones during the Competition Period (if you're sure your side's victory is already secured); otherwise you'll get Ancient Adena for your Stones only in the next cycle, during the Seal Validation Period, if your side wins.
- If you handed in Seal Stones during the Competition Period but your side lost, then when you register for the other side in the next cycle, your
Ancient Adena reward will be lost.

Effects of the Seals
- Each of the three available Seals has its own bonuses. However, for these bonuses to take effect - i.e. for the seal to be activated - at least 35% of the winning side's participants must have voted for it. However, if one side wins 2 or more times, at least 10% is needed to keep control of the Seal. Example:
- The Lords of Dawn (Dawn) won the first Seven Signs cycle and activated seals 1 and 2, while seal 3 remained inactive (35% for seal 1, 35% for seal 2, and for seal 3 there weren't enough people anyway). If Dawn wins the second cycle (i.e. that's already week 4 - cycle 2), voting for the same seals (again 35% for seal 1, 35% for seal 2, not enough for seal 3), then in the third cycle (Monday of week 5) activating any of the seals won in the previous cycle (in our example seals 1 and 2) will need only 10% (10% for seal 1, 10% for seal 2, 35% for seal 3). So if Dawn wins again, on Monday of week 6 (the start of the Seal Validation Period of cycle 3) all 3 seals will be activated. PROFIT, well.
- The same applies, for example, if Dawn voted for only one of the seals in all 2 cycles: in cycle 3 they can still activate all 3 seals (35%+35%+10% = all 3 seals win and will act during the Seal Validation Period of cycle 3) if they win it.
- The Lords of Dawn (Dawn) won the first and second cycles of the event, but the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk) won the third cycle. This means Dusk will need 35% for the seal (or 2 seals, as it turns out or as they wish) to be activated in the third cycle. If in this case Dusk also win the next, cycle 4, then during the Competition Period they'll need 10% for the seal (or seals) they won in the previous cycle.
1) Seal of Avarice
- The side that owns the Seal gets exclusive access to Necropolis and Catacombs.
- Note that if only this seal is activated, access will be open ONLY to the Necropolises.
- Event monsters that drop seal stones appear in the Necropolises.
- Merchant of Mammon (Merchant of Mammon) appears in the Necropolises. The Merchant changes location, moving randomly between Necropolises every 30 minutes.
- The Raid Boss Lilith (level 75) appears in Disciples Necropolis (if the Lords of Dawn (Dawn) won) or Anakim (level 75) (if the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk) won).
2) Seal of Gnosis
- The side that owns the Seal gets exclusive access to Necropolis and Catacombs.
- Note that if only this seal is activated, access will be open ONLY to the Catacombs.
- The side that owns the Seal can, for
Ancient Adena, teleport from the Priests to the dungeons located in the territory of the town where the Priest is. - Blacksmith of Mammon (Blacksmith of Mammon) appears in the Catacombs. The Blacksmith changes location, moving randomly between Catacombs every 30 minutes.
- Orator of Revelations (Orator of Revelations) appears in all towns (except starting villages), applying buffs to members of the winning side.
- Preacher of Doom (Preacher of Doom) appears in all towns (except starting villages), applying debuffs to members of the losing side.
- The buffs/debuffs last 20 minutes, or until the character dies. They'll keep casting these effects on you all week, until the Seal Validation Period ends on Monday at 15:45.
3) Seal of Strife
- The Seal is owned by the Lords of Dawn (Dawn):
- The winning side's max CP increases by 10%, and the losing side's decreases by 10%.
- Elite Dawn Mercenaries (Mercenary of Dawn) can be hired to defend the castle, in addition to regular mercenaries.
- The cost of upgrading the defensive properties of castle walls and gates decreases slightly.
- The defensive properties of castle gates and walls increase slightly.
- The maximum tax that can be set on lands is 25%.
- Since the Lineage 2 - Interlude update, during a siege supporters of the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk) can't use siege equipment (Siege Golems, etc.) if the seal is owned by the Lords of Dawn (Dawn).
- The Seal is owned by the Revolutionaries of Dusk (Dusk):
- The winning side's max CP increases by 10%, and the losing side's decreases by 10%.
- Only the weakest mercenaries can be hired to defend the castle.
- The cost of upgrading the defensive properties of castle walls and gates increases greatly.
- The defensive properties of castle gates and walls decrease greatly.
- The maximum tax that can be set on lands is 5%.
- Since the Lineage 2 - Interlude update, during a siege attackers can use siege equipment (Siege Golems, etc.) if the seal is owned by Dusk (Dusk), or if the seal wasn't activated.
- Since the Lineage 2 - Hellbound update, if Dusk (Dusk) owns the Seal, clan alliances that own castles can't take part in defending the castle. When the siege starts, defense registration is automatically canceled for all clans except the castle-owning clans.
Blacksmith, Merchant and Smuggler of Mammon
- Now let's talk about such a useful thing as the Mammons. I'll start with the Mammon that practically doesn't depend on the 7 seals, though it's part of this event. He's in all towns (except starting villages), in secluded spots, all year round without lunch breaks. This is the Smuggler of Mammon. Members of either side can deal with him in any period. Here are the services the Smuggler offers:
- Unlike the Smuggler, whose services are always available, the presence of the Merchant and the Blacksmith in the dungeons depends on the seals (whether the corresponding seal is activated or not), and their range of services is much wider and even, so to speak, more essential.
